Not watching the Oscars? What are you doing instead?

I usually watch the Oscars, but I have no interest in watching this year. I've always found Chris Rock completely unfunny. So, instead, I'll be making burritos and watching MST3K and Babylon 5 episodes.

Yeah, but do you have hot sauce? Cause I mean, what's a burrito without some spicy bowel turning goodness?

I myself, will be watching the first thirty minutes, then going out to do some work and missing the bulk of the show.

why can't you still watch and just ignore him? i don't care for him either, but i don't really watch the show simply for the host. aren't you curious to see the awards live rather than on the news the day after? seems like a silly reason if it is truly something you watch year in and out.

I have to agree. After the opening bits, the host pretty much just pops up to make a quip every once in a while. They make a big deal about who's hosting, but they don't have that much of an impact.

Will probably watch the Bollywood film "Veer-Zaara". If I recall correctly, it's 3 hours and 12 minutes long.

Ah, if you're going Bollywood you have to find something starring Aishwarya Rai.

I could tell you, but then we'd have to move the thread to Adult.

Me too. Starts at 3:00 here in Holland. Luckily, I've taped it.

Watching DVDs. I find the Oscars to be one of the most boring spectacles in entertainment.

I not only find them boring, but insulting to film fans or just that average person in general. I literally cannot understand why people not only watch just tripe, but care about it.

I'm waiting for my girlfriend to get home from her friends & then we are going out for dinner, just a normal Sunday not, not a "what am I doing in place of watching the Oscars".

I don't care what movie will be the next "Shakespeare in Love" or "Driving Miss Daisy."

We'll be having a friend over for dinner and maybe watch a DVD afterwards.

To add - there is one thing I find interesting about the Oscars - how much cleavage the hot actresses (and hot dates of the actors) are revealing. Of course, I can scan the photo galleries the next morning.

I'm taping the oscars. Then I can skip all the commercials and acceptance speechs that I don't like.

I'm going to be reading lots o' literary criticism on the "Constance stories" in Confessio Amantis, Canterbury Tales, and "Emare." It's all very exciting, I know . . .

(Actually, I do think it's interesting, though I'm not really enthused about studying right now)

I caught the opening monologue then put it on TIVO so I can fast foward through all the stuff I don't want to watch. I'm watching The Iron Giant special features instead.

I got tired of the celebrity worship and quit watching many years ago.

So tonight I watched an episode of Planet of the Apes TV show from Netflix, will now work out and then play Halo 2. Exciting, huh... but I would much rather to the above mentioned than watch the Oscars anyday.

I'm watching Independence Day on Fox channel 11. It's a whole lot more entertaining (IMO) than watching the club pat each other on the back....
