A general would never do that, you're right. Fortunately, Nicholson's character is only a full-bird Colonel, and they are notoriously prone to such self-destructive behavior.

A Civil Action has some good ones, including one excellent scene that takes place just outside of a courtroom.

Another vote for both The Insider and Presumed Innocent.

Boomerang! (1947) - directed by Elia Kazan.

My favorite court-room drama. Hopefully Fox well released this on the next Fox Film-Noir.

The classic scene from A Few Good Men and the many hilarious courtroom scenes from My Cousin Vinny take the cake for me.
