Besides Hitchhiker's, I'm also looking forward to a little independent film called The Fantastic Four.
What an intriguingly half-a$$ed list that is...

From looking at the list...
...I don't really see any really significant films with a lot of "buzz" behind the films for 2005, unlike in 2004 when you had:
Shrek 2, which became the #1 film in 2004 in terms of box office revenues.
Spider-Man 2, which became the #2 film in 2004 in terms of box office revenues (mostly because many considered it better than the first film).
The Passion of the Christ, which because of its controversy and its strong appeal to the devout Christian crowd became the #3 film in terms of box office revenues.
Fahrenheit 9/11, which because of the controversy over its political tone became the #1 documentary of all time in terms of box office revenues.
The Aviator, the type of film that AMPAS voters like and that could finally get Martin Scorsese the Best Director Oscar.
There may be a built-in audience for Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith and Batman Begins, but given the negative reviews for a few of the previous Batman films and the iffy audience reaction for the first two Star Wars prequels, I have my doubts.
If they do it right, The Producers could be a strong contender for lots of Oscars next year. And I do mean do it right by properly adapting the recent Broadway smash hit.

I agree with the list, except that I'd replace "Pink Panther" and "Zorro" with both "Sin City and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
If I could expand it beyond the usual 10, I'd also add...
"Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"
"Cinderella Man"
"A Scanner Darkly"
"Oliver Twist"
and "Chronicles of Narnia"

Wait a second - Legend of Zorro?!? I knew they were talking about a second one, but I didnt know they were almost DONE with it!
Woo! The first one ROCKED. Best pulp fiction movie to come along since the Rocketeer! If the second one is as half as good, I'll wet my self from joy

Just saw the trailer for Sin City. Oh, man. Next to Ep.3 and Batman, this is up on my list. I can't wait.
And jaeufraser is right, all those other films weren't expected to do much. I thought Shrek was a one trick pony that exhausted all of their jokes in the first flick. I thought it would do respectable, but not as well as the first. I still haven't seen 2.

Fahrenheit? I don't remember any huge buzz.
I also don't remember any hype surrounding the Aviator because Marty might get a shot at an Oscar. Gangs of New York had more buzz than the Aviator.
I'm really excitied about 2005. Lots of good stuff.

The Passion of the Christ certainly had a lot of "buzz" because there were so many public denouncements from the Hollywood crowd that it created more interest to find just what this movie is about. Why do you think it ended up making US$370 million in first-run release?
Fahrenheit 9/11 had a lot of "buzz" because of the combination of Michael Moore being his usual publicity hound self and because its subject matter was a hot button topic this past election cycle.
The Aviator has a lot of "buzz" because a lot of people in the entertainment industry wants to see a Martin Scorsese film win both Best Picture and Best Director, something that has yet to happen. Besides, the movie is quite good, anyway, with standout performances by Leonardo DiCapiro and especially Cate Blanchett.

Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith - Haven't seen the last two, so I probably won't see this one.
The War of the Worlds - Need to find out more before I make my decision, but Cruise is usually dependable.
Kingdom of Heaven - No interest.
Batman Begins - Yes, please!
The Island - Don't know anything about it.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Haven't seen #3 yet, but I'll probably wait for this one on DVD. Too many *shudder* children in the theater.
The Pink Panther - I like Steve Martin and I like the old PP movies, so why do I not care about this?
The Legend of Zorro - I'll pass.
King Kong - Don't know too much about this, but Jackson + Kong =
The Producers - Not a chance.
Also looking forward to Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka and the Chronicles of Narnia.

But on the other hand, people have been clamoring for Star Wars since the first images started to leak out on to the internet. As soon as a low-quality copy of the teaser trailer leaked out, they swarmed on it until the website crashed. King Kong is already being raised to the level of a new Lord of the Rings movie, by Internet fanboys. And as far as Batman goes, fans know, they don't just [b]think[/i], they know, that this is going to be the Batman movie they've always wanted to see and that it's going to revive the franchise. I think 2005 is going to be much more exciting year for movies than 2004 was.
