Topher Grace is a good actor. Real good performance in this.

Has anyone else viewed "In Good Company"? Plan to? Well, it's worth it, IMO.

Nothing mind blowing, life changing, or totally unique, but it's well acted, well written, and very enjoyable. Go see it.

In good company - Topher grace delivers a pretty decent performance and Dennis Quaid really does show some acting skill here. Both show their age and is a good flick over all. The real pleasure of this film is seeing Scarlett Johansson on screen. The story is of the senior worker being replaced by the new young gun when a magazine company is bought out by a bigger company and how the characters deal with it. I really enjoyed the ending unless they changed it since the project was called synergy.

I thought about seeing this mainly because of Scarlett Johansson, but it looks pretty good from the trailer and the reviews have been mostly positive so far, so I'll probably go see it.

I'm really looking forward to it. If I were to read a quick summary, I would have guessed this to be a poor flick, with the young guy as an oily upstart to the father's down-home goodness. I'm pleased to see the characters are different, and deeper.

I heard that Topher Grace totally phoned in his performance.

Really? I read different in a few reviews, praising him. Newsweek, I think, compared him to young Tom Hanks.

They are referring to his line in Ocean's 12, Topher says: "and i totally phoned in that dennis quaid movie"

I was really looking forward to this one and it did not disappoint. Grace and Quaid were both fantastic and Helgenberger and Johannsen are both talented and beautiful, so the cast was aces all around. I love how even in a movie about corporate greed etc, it still manages to just boil down to a movie about PEOPLE. Sometimes these "life lesson" type movies can feel preachy or overly sappy, but In Good Company never does. It's got a great wit to it and a huge beating heart.

Paul & Chris Weitz are really showing themselves to be great talents. American Pie was hilarious but still had heart. About A Boy was one of the best movies of the year when it was released, and in Good Company turns out equally as good. If you want a movie that will make you laugh, pull at your heartstrings and make you feel GREAT about being alive, these guys seem to have the solution. I can't wait to see what they do next.

Just got back a little while ago from seeing it. Great movie.

Kinda surprised to hear the good things. The reviews I've read were all negative.

In Good Company is 85% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. I really want to go watch it but it will not be in Crossville or Cookeville. I really do not want to make a 2 + hr round trip to Knoxville to go see it. I guess I'll wait until it comes out on dvd hopefully in 4-6 months.

This film succeeds in crafting characters that you care about by the time the credits roll around. Both Topher Grace and Dennis Quaid come up strong, though the screenplay feels a little bloated at time, or there are many more quiet moments than the trailers would lead you to expect. It's not a full-on comedy, but the funny moments come out of the real life drama and circumstances. All in all, a pleasant viewing experience, and it leaves you wanting just a little more.

I give it 3 stars, or a grade of B.

I liked it. There were some awkward bits in the writing, but the lead performances were all very likeable and the movie overall felt so sweet and good-natured that it was hard to resist. It reminded me in tone of late-80's John Hughes, and I wouldn't mind if if Paul Weitz became the next Hughes (while avoiding the eventual decline into movies about kids hitting adults with blunt objects).

A friend saw this tonight and said it was great. Good acting with characters you care about, so he tells me. I'm mildly interested, i'll probably rent it.

I saw this Friday night with a sold out audience which is always nice. I liked the film a lot, Topher Grace and Dennis Quaid were very good. Especially Grace, he was perfectly casted, and it's nice to Quaid doing a very exceptional job in a decent movie, he's been in a lot of stinkers lately.

I liked Paul Weitz's About a Boy a lot, and while this is not quite as good, it's a very sweet comedic film with characters you learn to really care about. I thought the film could have been tightened up a bit in the script as I thought it went a bit too long, but otherwise nicely written.

Scarlett Johansson was fine, but her character was rather simply, but it's really was about the relationship between Grace and Quaid. I hope to see more of these kind of films from Paul Weitz. Did anyone like the soundtrack a lot because I did, and I think the filmmakers took a nod from Garden State with featuring songs from The Shins and Iron and Wine.

Actually, The Shins is not on the official soundtrack (which I just happen to be listening to right now). Iron and Wine are, with three songs to their credit, however.

I really cant wait to see this movie, cast looks awesome.

I noticed they are not on soundtrack too, but I stayed through the credits I saw The Shins mentioned a couple of times, and I know the song "Those to Come" is one of their songs in the film which is off their Chutes Too Narrow disc.

Saw this last night and really enjoyed it. Nice performances by Quaid and Grace, and the film manages to make you feel empathy for both of their situations. It almost goes out of its way to NOT give us the cliched outcomes.

Dennis Quaid was on Conan O'Brien and stated that the surprise party scene was actually something he did as a prank for the crew. Almost to his chagrin, the director loved it and decided to keep it in!
