That wasn't my point. It's the fact that he used it the second time and it was so ridiculous that it threw the whole movie off the track is what I had problem with. It's fine if you want funny joke in the build up, but in the later part of the film, I thought it did a huge disservice to the film. Hence my question if this is some sort of franchise insider joke or something where it makes sense. But I guess I over-thought it.

Any theaters where you are do any special events? There is a theater here (and elsewhere) called Alamo Drafthouse which showed an Evil Dead movie the last 3 Wednesdays. Tonight it was finished with Army of Darkness and if you went to all three they gave you a free ticket for the remake. Dont know if stuff like that would show up on the IMDb app though.

This is going to bomb al I'm hearing about is how Jurassic Park 3D is not to be missed. They should have released it closer to Halloween.

I don't see this bombing at all. I was at the 10pm showing tonight and it was packed. I liked it a lot which was unexpected considering how high my hopes were going into it.

I just got back, and I saw someone walk out in the first 5 minutes, and then another right before the ending of the movie. It was awesome. My theatre wasnt packed, but a decent crowd for a 10PM show on a Thursday night. I think this will do well.

I just got back from a 10 P.M. showing and the theater was packed. There were more people in the lobby waiting for the midnight screening when I left.
Also AMC was checking I.D., and had the manager waiting right outside the theater door. That was a bit annoying in my opinion, since they're treating it like an NC-17 film( and it also held up the ticket line as they checked everyone's I.D. and turned away some people who were not 18 after slowly looking over their license), and basically ruining the chances of both making more money and allowing horror fans under 17 to see it theatrically. Also you were asked for I.D. three times, one at the ticket counter, then at the ticket taker in the lobby, then before entering the theater this time policed by the manager. That's excessive and stupid in my honest opinion.
Also with how long the wait in line to buy a ticket took, I was close to missing catching a good seat in the theater, since it was already packed 15 minutes before showtime. So boo to enforcing the rating system and ruining the fun for horror fans.

Although my rating isn't higher, I thoroughly recommend this movie. Well directed (seriously well done) with some fantastic cinematography and great practical effects which really added to the terror. The story and characters, which are kind of forgettable / boring are my main criticism, but this is a horror movie at the end of the day, and it works well for what it's trying to be. The acting is solid and this is a lot less campy, and just a better movie in my mind than the original. 7.0 / 10

I generally leave my wallet in the trunk of the car when I go to movies so I don't lose it in the theater. (Happened once when I was a kid.) I look like fucking Rob Zombie, so there's no way anyone's going to mistake me for a teenager. No need to see my ID.

Saw a 10pm tonight.
Thoughts:
Opening was bad. Clumsy, useless, and introduces unused characters.
All of these people make one dumb choice after the other, no one seems to connect with anyone else.
Great gore gags, but the red band was so excited to blow a load that it didn't save much for the film. A lot of the money shots have been seen.
Diablo Cody's dialogue seemed obvious to me. Every ridiculous use of "motherfucker" and other trying-to-be-hard lines sounded terribly out of place.
I would've liked some black humor.
Too much dumb exposition. Why do most new horror films have to explain every little thing?
I want to see it again once I've digested it more. I enjoyed t, but some people seem to be loving it blindly just because it isn't the piece of shit we all expected.

And SpottedFeather is...well Spottedfeather.
What makes ED1 weird is that the Ash we all love is from what ED2 got out of the character. But I'll be damned if Campbell didn't have some serious acting in ED1 at times. Especially when the shit got heavy. Recently saw it again and I really liked some of his acting in there. It's kind all over the place in the film but he had some strong steady moments in there. Man, I love the BD.

Believe nothing. The original just doesn't come off serious today as it did back in the day. It's not scary or terrifying now. It's fucking amazing but it doesn't translate the same beats it had to today. It was made serious but time hasn't allowed it to stay serious.

I was hoping this would be more horror with comedy splashed in and a complete gorefest.
Going to watch it tonight!!!

I can see how you would watch the original Evil Dead now and think it's campy and not scary, but I think you can also tell from the tone that it was intended as serious horror. I don't see how anyone could watch the first and consider it a comedy.

That's my point. It's a serious film but it's kind of camped out due to time. I'm uncomfortable calling it dated cuz it's a fucking great film but the horror isn't horror anymore.
I'd probably blame that on the budget but the filmmaking is there. That still holds strong.
It's obviously a horror film but it isn't scary anymore. Kind of like Frankenstein, The Wolfman, and etc. they've place in the genre but no longer maintain the literal aspect of the genre name.

They shouldn't check everyone but a theater can get in trouble if they get caught letting in under age people to rated R films.
I recently worked at a theater and we did the same for R movies. Also do theater checks afterwards to make sure there were no sneak ins.
