Did Mr Orange really think he could get away with

shooting Mr. Blonde? He was playing the part of a criminal he wasn't supposed to care what happened to the cop. He was supposed to hate cops.

At that point, due to so much blood loss, etc. he probably wasn't thinking very clearly, and besides, by then he probably thought that he was going to die anyway. So why not
Spoiler:
try to save a fellow cop, and take care of one more (really) bad guy.

Werren't the cops supposed to be on their way there, so that once the boss arrived, they'd nab him?

Pretty simple really, He knew he was gonna die, by then the whole situation was really fucked up and he didn't want to see anything else happen to the cop.

His mistake was saying Mr. Blonde was going to double-cross the others. I think being afraid Blonde was going to light all that gasoline on fire with him so close to it was reason enough to shoot him.

As much as I love RD, very little of this movie makes any sense...

Mr Orange should've just said that Vic was threatening to burn him next or something. Dumb thing to do.

Also, the whole idea of Joe, this kingpin of crime, masterminding a jewelry store heist doesn't make a whole lot of sense, either. Such a job has a low risk/pay-off ratio, and someone in his position wouldn't want to get his hands dirty in such a way.

There's also too much use of cell phones, which can be monitored.

Nobody, with the exception of Mr Pink, thinks logically. Joe, Eddie, the robbers, the cops. All a bunch of dumbasses.

Almost all Tarantino movies require a large amount of suspension of disbelief.

This was 1992. Only like a hundred people had phones.

You're all wrong - god, I can't believe nobody stepped in and explained this yet.

Mr. Orange explained (lied) that he went crazy, cut off the cops ear, and was going to BURN THE PLACE DOWN. Do you understand now? Is everything ok?

But then he made the mistake of going further and saying Blonde was going to double-cross Joe, which tipped his hand.

Mr. Orange did not say "He was going to burn the place down" he said "He went crazy , cut off the cop's ear and was going to burn him alive" and then Eddie "who cares what he does to this peice of *hit" and shot the cop dead.

So my question still stands.

No, we are not necessarily wrong, and everything isn't quite OK, because there WAS a bit more to it than that. From the script, first he says this:

MR. ORANGE
(very weakly)
"Blonde went crazy. He slashed the
cop's face, cut off his ear and
was gonna burn him alive."

(He didn't say he was going to burn "the place" down, BTW)

Then, as Mr. Salty says, he kept going with his story, and tipped his hand, by saying:

MR. ORANGE
"Look, Eddie, he was pullin a burn.
He was gonna kill the cop and me.
And when you guys walked through
the door, he was gonna blow you to
hell and make off with the
diamonds."

That was where he made his mistake, because he didn't know how much Joe and Eddie trusted Mr. Blonde, and how loyal to them he was. Do YOU understand now?

I heard an interview on the radio with some undercover cop who had infiltrated the mob. He said they were suppossed to let minor crimes slide, up to and including other mobsters getting whacked, but if another cop or a civilian's live was endangered, they were suppossed to break cover.

I just googled the script instead.

(although I should have the damn film completely memorized by now!)
