my theory...
Don't criticize me but just tell me if you agree or not,.. I think that the best movies come in 3 year spurts...
1999 - being john malvovich, the blair witch project, fight club, american beauty, etc.
2002- panic room, solaris, the ring, minority report, jackass, etc.
2005- sin city, batman begins, charlie and the chocolate factory, corpse bride, king kong, ring 2
Well, just my favourite films apart from the LOTR trilogy, lost in translation, T3, ghost world, and requiem.
This year's only films I really liked were Eternal Sunshine and Mean Girls (oh tina fey)

So I guess 2001 with Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, A Beautiful Mind, Godford Park, Moulin Rouge, Shrek, Monsters Inc., Black Hawk Down, Mulholland Dr., Donnie Darko, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Amelie, and The Royal Tenebaums was just small potatoes. I'd take those movies over the ones you listed for 2002 and 1999.

Did you use a time machine to see these films, or did you manage to track down some very early screeners?

Go see "Finding Neverland" it's an truly inspiring.
There was also "Garden State" "Sideways" "The Passion" "Fahrenheit 9/11" "Harry Potter 3" "Spiderman 2"
Looking forward to "The Incredibles" "Life Aquatic" "Alexander"
That's my list of films this year in addition to my favorite: "Eternal Sunshine"

and solaris, blair witch, jackass??? are you kidding. this assumption belongs to you and you alone and really no need to post an entire thread about it.

Why are you using 2005 as an example? You haven't seen those films. I think you'd have a more compelling argument if you'd gone backwards from 1999, and not forwards to the future.
2008 has some kick ass films, can't wait for Flatulence Generator, The Terror From the Sky Has Only One Eye, Chicken Dance, and Rochelle, Rochelle 5.

There are good movies every year. Just because you don't like some doesn't mean it's a blanket theory that works for everyone.

WHAT DID I SAY AT THE BEGINNING OF MY POST? But of course, all these dvd talk retards egar to practice their critical skills because they're too insignificant in the real world to be allowed to use them as freely as they wish. I said, just agree or not but don't criticze. You guys are all so predictable. I apoligize for using a teaser thread title, I didn't mean to, really. I just noticed all the films I'm excited about were three years apart so I wanted to see if anybody else agreed with me, and no, nobody here can be normal with the way they go about things. I guess when you own 1000+ dvds, you've sort of established a habit of caring about every little thing you're able to. Just pathetic. I'm very unsurprised.

p.s.JACKASS is what people do for fun. They don't make reality films about internet forums and dvd collecting for a reason.
