TCM '74 (this one's a must...the remake's pretty good too...never seen the sequels)

IT - the bad special effects may have ruined the last half-hour (i.e. the adults fighting the giant fake plastic spider thing), but the first part focusing on the kids is really well-done and genuinely creepy...i'm actually glad they left certain parts out from the massive book....Tim Curry owns the role of Pennywise

Two underrated and little known creepy movies.

These are not slasher flicks but eerie movies like they used to make.

Burnt Offerings used to scare the crap outta me when I was a kid. I watched it recently and it didn't do it for me anymore. Unfortunately, The Entity is nowhere near a DVD release. I did manage to rip my old VHS copy, though. It used to freak me out that it was "based on a true story". However, I've learned over the years that that doesn't mean a whole lot in movieland.


I'm still wanting to see the extended cut of The Frighteners, sigh.

Every Halloween eve, I watch The Warriors. The first time I saw it, it was Hallows eve, so it's been a tradition since High School.

its all about halloween 1 and 2 3 was shit straight from a dogs ass.

I watched "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead things" last night. I didn't expect much but it was damn creepy. Granted, the production values suck, the acting is mediocre at best and the DVD transfer was horrible (if this is the best print they could find, pity the poor folks who have VHS copies). I think the B-movie (or less) production values actually helped the creepy factor (as they did with Evil Dead). It wasn't all "slicked" up so they had to be innovative with the make-up. I loved this flick, . Bob Clark does a great job with creating anticipation and dread.

There's not much gore, a little blood and that's it so gorehounds won't like it but I really liked the spooky atmosphere that it created.

Not everyone will like it but if you like B-grade drive-in movies and atmospheric creepiness, I suggest this flick. Great for Halloween!
