I'm glad Romero didn't do it. I'm very happy with the outcome of this movie. I liked the idea of having a whole new cast of characters in the movie that wasn't in the game and also a different plot.

After watching Tomb Raider, Resident Evil was much better than what I was expecting.

I really enjoyed this movie. I see movies like XXX and MIB 2 doing well and I wish that this could have found the audience they did because it's Much more deserving of success than most of the Summer crap that comes out.

Glad Eric Mabius is going to be in it too!!!!

Okay, checked www.horrordvd.com, doesn't exist. Do you mean www.horrordvds.com? If so, there is nothing there that I saw. Anyone care to provide a link?

IF this is true, I'm happy to see Mila and Eric back. I like Mira as well, and you cannot go wrong with Asia. I could do w/o Chris Klein, but I can live with it.

Dang! I searched this thread out because I just found out that that was Jason Isaacs as the guy with the anti-bacterial mask on (as someone else guessed earlier in a thread on this forum) and I was stoked. This guy was my favorite (underused) character in Event Horizon and I was happy to see him in a (hopefully) more prominent role as a villain.
That said, I just have to express my appreciation of the first flick. I thought it was going to bite rat gonads, but I really loved it. Good unclean fun!!! Yes the zombies were kinda lame, but my infatuation is with the Illuminati type terror of Umbrella.

Agreed. If Romero did it, it would be incredibly gory with no story. I like Paul W.S. Anderson, he did a good job.

Who spread that rumour? Paul Anderson or Jeremy Bolt?

The movie wasn't that bad, but I can't believe anyone would be amazed with it.

Maybe Sarah was comparing the script to the movies that she's worked on in the past. I can see how it would blow her away!

I dunno about Sarah Michelle Gellar but Paul Anderson did confirm that Jason Isaacs is in the sequel.
Spoiler:
Sadly, he also confired that he gets killed in Resident Evil: Nemesis but promises it'll be an even more memorable death scene than his gruesome demise in Event Horizon.

Oh and after seeing bits of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets I take back what I said about blonde hair not suiting Jason Isaacs. He would've made an awesome Wesker!

After seeing Jason Isaacs briefly as Lucius Malfoy, I have a feeling that he would do Wesker just fine, he's got that villainous look that only truly "great" movie villains like Christopher Walken can do.

I feel the same. I fell for the bad rap this movie got critically. I should have listened to the one Bay Area critic who professed to be a huge fan of the games and stated, that based on that, he saw this as his favorite video game movie that he’d seen. I really felt that they did pay proper homage to the series while treading new ground. When I am less strapped for cash I will be picking this up. I have to do some research on the whole superbit thing, because I really like the extras and I don’t know if I’d sacrifice them for whatever enhancement suberbit offers.

This flick makes me happy and I will be seeing Nemesis on the big screen now.

maybe they can pay homage to Cruel Intentions by having Milla Jovovich and Sarah Michelle Gellar do an extended remake of the kissing scene

Ok maybe that is a stretch but couldn't they just film it to include it in the deleted scenes- I bet dvd sales of the remake would go up 50%

I bought this Dvd because I had heard a few good things about it here. I am glad I did since I enjoyed the movie alot. Overall I thought the movie was well done and not campy at all.

Well Anderson is still a producer and writ the script, but the 2nd unit director in the article is calling the shots, could this be good? We don't know, but looking forward to it.

I for one loved Resident Evil, a similar movie thats really crap is Ghost of Mars if we're talking stinkers. Since its supposed to follow the game's sequel i have high hopes and hope it builds from the great last shot in the first movie---a shot which fits directly into another great, almost zombie movie called 28 Days Later that hits theatres here soon form the UK.

I enjoyed it, no doubt, but they totally got away from the horror and the zombies in the movie. I mean, it's about zombies and they were in about two scenes... This one will probably center on Nemesis -- ie, one big monster -- rather than zombines, again. Eh well, whatever.

I enjoyed RE immensely, which is why I saw it 5 times in theaters, then watched the DVD 8 times within 2 days of its release. I can see why people consider it to be utter crap, but I still love it every time I watch it. The commentary is pretty funny, especially the "twat shot" comment, lol.
