RIP Brando.

chente 07-02-04 11:35 AM

Well, 80 is a good age to reach too. I'll definitely have to have a little mini-Brandofest this weekend. Great great actor.

conscience 07-02-04 12:15 PM

:(

Even though he wasn't really doing anything recently, he is still the actor who defined a generation. I don't care what anybody says.

digitalfreaknyc 07-02-04 12:24 PM

how many threads do we need about this? this is the third!

mookyman 07-02-04 12:25 PM

I agree. The media has no sense of history. Another great artist of the 20th century is gone. I too will be busy this weekend watching On The Waterfront, The Godfather, Last Tango in Paris, Superman, and Apocalypse Now.

conscience 07-02-04 12:57 PM

digitalfreaknyc, watched American Psycho lately?

Just saw the CNN Breaking News Report. Great actor. Great man.

rexinnih 07-02-04 02:27 PM

He will be missed. RIP.

conscience 07-02-04 02:33 PM

Oh. I forgot to mention that I was looking at his filmography over at IMDB just the other day and he basically knew he was going to die soon.

He wanted to be cremated and have his ashes spread on his private island where there are only two inhabitants.

true 07-02-04 02:47 PM

I´m very sad:(

Rest in Peace:(

Dr. DVD 07-02-04 03:24 PM

Well, may he RIP. I didn't know he was that old, but I knew he was grossly overweight. I wonder if that played a factor.

DVD Smurf 07-02-04 06:56 PM

A strong willed man who recently was followed by creditors and he hid his Oscars in order to keep them away from the creditors. Now he has passed away and he will be missed by all of us. In our prayers/thoughts you are Mr. Brando. A tribute to his cinematic genius are the films that he made (see below).

he's had it pretty rough in these past couple of decades. Looks like it caught up with him. May he rest in peace.

hmm...just rewatched The Godfather yesterday. Too sad.

That is my favorite from him.

Such a heartbreaking performance. Paul will make you love him, hate him, cry for him, and feel his pain as he transitions himself all the way to the climax of the film.

Damn he is great.

cfloyd3 07-02-04 09:26 PM

It cannot be that surprising that this came after all of his problems with weight and his family problems, which I saw on E True Hollywood Story tonight that I wasn't aware of... would be heartbreaking to take. He was truly the most intense actor I have ever seen on the screen. An immortal icon in cinema even if he didn't care.

Last Tango In Paris is my favorite Brando performance also.
