Rank the Comic Book movies

So with the Spiderman feeding frenzy just hitting high gear, I thought it might be fun to see where you guys thought the movie fitted in the grand scheme of things. So, here is my list from best to worse.

El -Kabong's semi-official Top 10+ Comic Book movies of all time:
01) Superman: The Movie
02) Spiderman 2
03) Batman: Mask of the Phantasam
04) Superman II
05) Spiderman
06) The Rocketeer
07) The Hulk
08) Mystery Men

For me, that's where the A-list ends. From here on out, it's all suckage and pain.

09) Hellboy
10) Swamp Thing
11) Batman
12) Batman Returns
13) X-Men
14) X-Men 2
15) Superman III
16) Roger Corman's Fantastic Four
17) Batman Forever
18) Daredevil
19) Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
20) Supergirl
21) Batman and Robin

Of course. this list will be amended as I think of movies and go "Oh, hell - why did I forget THAT" and quickly add it in. Also, I didnt list the Punisher because I never saw the film (although from what little I've heard, I dont think it would have made the A-List). I also left the Crow off the list, since I only saw it once 10 years ago - and that would hardly be fair now would it?

Now - if you excuse me, I hear that the sinister Circle of Thorns are up to their dirty tricks in Parez Park again. Up, up and AWAY!

How can you forget Blade?!?! Surely that has to fall under this category! That would be in my top 3 most likely. With Superman and probably Spidey 2 (after I actually get a chance to see it )

Haven't seen Spidey 2 yet (tonight at 8 ) but in the mean time...

    1) Spider-Man
    2) Batman
    3) Blade 2
    4) X2
    5) Blade
    6) X-Men
    7) Daredevil
    8) Batman Forever
    9) Batman Returns
    10) Superman

I'm ignoring more of the obscure "comic book" movies and focusing more on the big ones from Marvel and DC. Superman ranks fairly low because upon rewatching it, it reminded me of how utterly ridiculous the ending was and how much Otis/Luthor got on my nerves.

Not to sidetrack - but I thought both X-Men movies were loaded down with too many characters and not enough development. The script relied too much on the viewer being knowledgeable with the source material and not enough time putting that backstory on the screen.

Also - I hate Wolverine as a character. Any superhero who kills (several times in fact) isnt a hero in my book.

Thus - while they werent as bad as some of the other films in the list, they aint great examples of film-making.

    Sure thing

I have never been a big Superman fan myself. Plus the two Superman movies people hold so high came out before I was born, so I never got to experience them in the theater. Heck, I would rather watch the Lois and Clark television show than the Superman movies. I won't touch the mess that is Smallville though.

Masters of the Universe holds a high rank because I am a very big fan of He-Man and She-Ra, since they were the main toys I grew up with, and have fond memories of seeing the movie opening day. Plus I actually do like the movie despite its flaws against the He-Man mythos.

I do feel that all of the Batman movies (except #4) are vastly superior to the Superman movies because plain and simple, Batman is just a more complex and interesting character who is surrounded by much more fun viles. Batman & Robin I would have ranked before all the Superman films if just one thing in the movie was changed: Barbara is to be Gordon's daughter.

And I really enjoyed the extended cut of the Supergirl movie on DVD, whereas watching the Superman movies on DVD (I rewatched all four) still did not thrill me too much.

Thats the point. They arent Superheros. That is why I think the Xmen franchise makes the best movies. My list would look something like:
    1-Xmen2
    2-Superman
    3-Superman2
    4-Blade
    5-Batman
    6-Daredevil
    7-Xmen
    8-Spiderman2
    9-Punisher
    10-Spiderman
....Something like that. I know I will be chastised, but I didnt think Spiderman2 was all that great. Good enough with some good action and SFX, but with a story I see each week on Smallville.

I'm not going to make a list because frankly I think it's beyond stupid to do and would much rather have a discussion about it.

I am a huge x-men fan, but the films did very little for me. Sure they are enjoyable, but they don't go far beyond that and really, I don't own them on dvd even though I have easy access to buy them very cheap at work.

Spiderman and Spidey 2 beat the crap out of the superman flicks and to me that was a level of greatness there that couldn't be touched. batman comes up after that but with the sequels becoming crappy and crappier I sort of lowered them on the bar.

    1. Superman The Movie

    2. Spiderman 2

    3. X2

    4. Road To Perdition (though not technically a comic hero movie)

    4. Batman Returns

    5. Blade

*The rest to me are either worth seeing once or not at all.

*And if its true Robert Rodriguez is collaborating with Quentin Tarantino for a SIN CITY movie then I have very high hopes for that. It better be an R rated movie.

While Superman 1 & 2 are the greatest "superhero" films with Batman & Spider-man behind that.

The greatest "comic book" film is the Crow hands down, IMO of course. Alex Proyas puts the directors of the other films to shame, including Burton & Raimi. It has it all.. love, tragedy, revenge, redemption. A great score, great cinematography, direction, acting, action scenes, etc. It has it all.

Which is why I probably dont like the comic AND the movies. I prefer my characters to be heroic instead of vigilanties.

they're aren't too many superhero's that don't kill, even accidentally. Both Supe and Spidey has killed. At least in the movies, Wolverine hasn't killed recklessly and not any innocents (at least best to my recollection)

I'm glad to see others put Unbreakable on their list. It's my fav comic book movie too. Although, i'm not sure if it counts since it isn't BASED on a comic book.

I wouldn't even rate Spiderman 2 in my top ten at this point. I need to see it again though.

I would say the first 2 and the last 2 are interchageable with each other (meaning SPidey II and Batman are very close and SUperman Iv and batman and robin are very close.)

1 Spiderman 2 (most recent, so probably very biased)
    2 Batman
3 The Crow (forgot about his one until someone mentioned it)
    4 X-Men 2
    5 Spiderman
    6 Batman Returns
    7 Superman: The Movie
    8 Superman II
    9 The Rocketeer
    10 X-Men
    11 The Hulk
12 Batman: Mask of the Phantasam
    13 Blade 2
    14 Daredevil
    15 Batman forever
    16 Blade
    17 Masters of the Universe
    18 Punisher (Dolph Ludgren)
    19 Mystery Men
    20 Swamp Thing
    21 Superman III
    22 Supergirl
    23 Barb WIre
    24 Batman and Robin
25 Superman IV: The Quest for Peace

I haven't seen these ones, but I will see helboy and punisher when they hit dvd
    Hellboy
    Roger Corman's Fantastic Four
    Punisher

What, no Tank Girl mentioned yet?

    My top ten:

    1. The Crow
    2. Spiderman 2
    3. Superman
    4. X2 X-Men United
    5. X-Men
    6. Batman
    7. Hellboy
    8. Spiderman
    9. The Hulk
    10. The Punisher (2004)

Oh this is a bit difficult but here it goes

    1. X2
    2. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
    3. Batman
    4. Blade
    5. Superman
    6. Blade 2
    7. X-Men
    8. Spiderman 2
    9. Superman 3 (I can't help it I love Richard Pryor)
    10. Spiderman

I think overall comic book movies are getting better though there will always be stinkers. I was never a huge Superman fan hence the low listings.
