I don't think that's the appeal...I think it's the closing line (and it's implications).

My favorite is Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail. I remember in college seeing how long I could get first timers to watch the pretty colors at the end with that annoying music before they realized the movie had ended.

I liked it because it's one of the few mainstream movies where the bad guy gets away at the end.
