If White Chicks even makes half of $50 million, I'd lose all faith in humanity. I really don't get any appeal of that movie

Wow, i'm sorry to see Around the World tank. I really wish it was marketed better stateside and not as just some throw away Jackie Chan vehicle.

Originally posted by Sessa17 Actually, yes, I said before it opened that I thought Passion would having the largest opening weekend in movie history, I even posted in somewhere here & people flamed me for thinking that. Like I said, I think people, critics, experts, were stupid for thinking it wasn't going to be that big. Never had any thoughts about titanic, still haven't seen it. |

If there was any justice in the world, this film will find an audience. I recommend it highly to everybody here. I can see Two Brothers being DOA. I can not only see it, but I can feel it. Good family films can make millions and millions. Now great family films are overlooked and die early deaths when in theaters (The Iron Giant). Matthew, you seem to be pretty good at this box office analysis. You should join us in the HSX game (see link in my sig). |
Originally posted by resinrats Considering that 80 Days will make more money than Fahrenheit 9/11 and will probably turn a profit eventually worldwide & video sales, dropping Moore's movie was probably smart. Face it, the average public doesn't give a crap about moore's agenda movie. F 9/11 will hardly make a dent in any BO scales. And yes...F 9/11 will outgross Around the World in 80 Days...at least for Disney. Since they're only in charge of domestic release, and it's heading for a 20 million dollar gross or so, I don't think it'll be too hard for F 9/11 to beat that, especially since Bowling made more than that also. Nonetheless, I've got no problem with Disney dumping that movie. I wish Miramax would split from Disney period. Disney's main property is family films...their rules on decency and no NC-17 ratings have no place in a studio like Miramax. |
While F 9/11 might not have the box office power The Passion of the Christ did, the "bad publicity" for the film has sparked more interest in the film so that Moore fans and haters alike will end up seeing the film sometime during it's theatrical run. It will easily make more than $30 million, but who knows how much more than that. It also helps that the film will open in 700 theaters on Friday, while Bowling for Columbine was never in more than 200 tops.

Fahrenheit 9/11 might become one of the highest grossing documentaries ever. I predict that it might make over $30 million total at the box office. :) The Notebook will be dead on arrival and Two Brothers won't even last two days, let alone two weeks, at the box office. Wow. Was I wrong. Not just wrong, but really ****ing wrong this weekend.
Hey, at least I admit it. I seriously thought those Wayans would make $50 million this weekend. I guess all the teenagers were at Fahrenheit 9/11 this weekend. It's nice to see Dodgeball still holding it's way. Hopefully Spider-man 2 doesn't kill it and we can see Dodgeball pass the $100 million mark. It deserves all the money it could make as it was A LOT better than Stiller's previous efforts (Envy, Stasky and Hutch, Along Came Polly, and Duplex). Same goes for The Terminal. I'm completely shocked The Notebook made $13 million. I'm also shocked that Two Brothers made more than $5 million. But I'm sure both will drop 50% next weekend. I predict Spider-man 2 will kill all the competition starting Wednesday. I predict at least $150 million for the first five days. ;) |

That movie is going to make bank and a half come wednesday. I'll be happily contributing my money too. F 9/11...impressive. It'll be interesting to see how it holds. Many will see it out of the curiosity factor, but curiosity isn't what makes a movie last in the long run. We'll see if Moore fans and liberals can keep this movie alive for a long time. |
Well Fahrenheit dropped on Saturday...never a good sign. Spidey will squish all next weekend.
|
Well Fahrenheit dropped on Saturday...never a good sign. Yeah, Spidey is going to basically eliminate every movie that comes out for a good week or two. I, Robot will bascially be Spidey's The Day After Tomorrow (big blockbuster that opens shortly after a gigantic blockbuster... Shrek 2). ;) |
Shrek 2 is at $400 mil and it's still taking in $10 mil a weekend. -eek- This has a very good shot at passing Star Wars Ep. 1 and E.T.

Um, no. Most movies INCREASE on Saturday (usually with double-digit percentages), with Sunday being the lowest day of the weekend, since people go back to work.
