this looks pretty much like the batmobile from "the dark knight returns", even though they seem to be going a year one route. if they use the reasoning for this that was used in DKR, then it will be all good.

I'm just so glad WB didn't get ahold of Marvel Film. I feel for those DC fans, sorry mates

But that's not the point. It isn't about whether I would buy one, it's whether I "buy" the idea of Batman having one, and calling the Batmobile. If he had it as part of his arsenal, for a specific purpose, that's one thing, but the thought of that thing cruising around Gotham strikes me as rather stupid.
You just said it right there. "for a specific purpose" and believe me, this thing HAS a specific purpose. The fact that you don't know, haven't read or seen what that purpose is shouldn't turn you off of the movie entirely IMO.

And while we're at it, WON'T be "cruising" around Gotham as those who've read the script know all too well. :D

Guess you've never read Miller's Batman stories. and like kal-el says, those who've read the script know that Batman doesn't drive all around Gotham with it.

I didnt think anything could ever replace the Burton Batmobile, but damn that machine looks like it could kick some ass.

Get Me Coffee 06-09-04 12:44 PM

wonder if it comes with side airbags standard.

That's the stupidest thing i've ever seen. dumb dumb dumb

stinkeye 06-09-04 02:00 PM

I hope he installs some bat-mirrors on that, it looks like it has some serious blind-spots!

Jackskeleton 06-09-04 02:21 PM

Front firing machine guns. Didn't they learn. Batman don't like him them guns! :p

DRG 06-09-04 02:27 PM

It actually seems a lot more realistic than the usual Batmobile, which I think would stand out quite a bit on the streets of Gotham City.

I dunno. I mean it could easily be over looked with the amount of SUV's, H2's and other big cars out now a days. :p Only difference is you can't see the little television screen in the back seats. ;)

jaeufraser 06-09-04 03:31 PM

Seriously, dismissing this movie cause of this car is silly...itfits the script, and no it won't look silly driving aroudn Gotham cause it won't be doing that.

Nonetheless tha articile says the thing really can reach up to 220 mph and can do jumps...pretty impressive if it can really do all that stuff. The orginal batmobile, while very cool looking, I believe was able to get to like 40 mph or something slow.

QuikSilver 06-09-04 03:33 PM

I'm not really a fan of the new batmobile. Like someone has said before, it looks like its from monster garage.

True. It could blend in with the jet engine and vector control ;)

I just hope they bring back the batman dance ;)

Hiro11 06-09-04 03:44 PM

Since I think The Dark Knight Returns is the absolute best incarnation of Batman and that car fits the book, I like it. In the book, the Batmobile is actually more on the lines of a giant tank, much bigger even than the one pictured here (it has room inside for a gimbled operating table for example) but this is going in the right direction.

A pic of the Batmobile from The Dark Night Returns
