I thought House of 1,000 Corpses was okay and closer to a straight forward horror movie. This one, however, was quite the opposite. And very entertaining. I'm glad I bought this.

I saw Devils rejects before 1000 corpses, i thought Devils rejects was really good fun and enjoyed it alot however 1000 corpses i didn't find so enjoyable for some reason.

I finally saw this over the weekend and was a bit disappointed after liking the first one.
Talk about a all time list of has been in Hollywood.
EG Daily
Steve Railsback
Debrah Van Vulenburg from Too Close for comfort.
Pricilla Barnes from Three's company
Daphne Ashbrook from Laverne and Shirley.

Wonder if this was done on purpose?

I finally saw this on DVD a couple days ago. I've watched it twice since. Wow, was I impressed. I totally agree with the poster who said to watch this one first. It's stands on it's own real well. Then, out of curiousity go back and watch House of 1000 Corpses. Because , if I'd had seen the first one ,I'd have never watched the 2nd one.

I too was a bit disappointed with this film, especially since I did like the first one.

Just saw this on Monday for the first time. Wow. I enjoyed House of 1,000 Corpses, flaws and all, for what it was but Devil's Rejects has been my favorite film I've seen this year and got to rank up there with True Romance as one of the coolest movies of all time.

The editing, the music, the performances, everything fit perfectly for me. I've got about 10 people lined up at work who I am lending this film out to. Excellent film and I'm looking forward to future Zombie pictures.

Only just saw this the other day myself. Wow! I thought it was excellent!

Gone are all the weird interludes from House of 1000 Corpses and Rob Zombie has managed to successfully reign in the overuse of music video type sequences.

The change in cast for Mother Firefly is definitely for the better too: she no longer feels like a failed cross-dressing cabaret artist

The gore and blood are both upped a great deal, which I loved. House of 1000 Corpses was gory but had a tendency to not overwhelm by cutting away. Devil's Rejects leaves little to the imagination and I thought a couple of sequences were truly grim; the most stomach churning for me was

Spoiler:
the girl victim getting hit by the truck and her remains being splattered across the highway

I loved the opening credits sequence

My only complaints about the film are that the pacing falls a little flat and the gore drops off for a while in the middle, between

Spoiler:
the last victim being killed by the truck and the policeman going on the rampage

But then it was nice to have a breather

I actually think the gore is reduced in Devil's Rejects but it is in a more realistic film so it has greater affect.

TDR is one of my favorite all time horror flicks

WHAT?!?!

You were rooting for these mass murderers?

I just don't understand this.

I loved the scenes where the sheriff was giving these bastards a taste of their own medicine. And I hated the fact that the sheriff was killed. He deserved his revenge.

^The way he was going about it though was just as sadistic as the Firefly family of killers.
It was not justice. It was a kind of torture that was in no way just or right. They deserve their fate at the end in the car but they didnt deserve to be tortured by the sadistic sheriff. He was obviously a sick man and was just capable of dong things the Firefly family did he only difference was he had a badge.

It's always funny looking at my posts from a while back but....Yes, I still stand by that comment but DON'T take it with a reality view (if that makes any sense) basically, it was a comment about the filmmaking. I obviously don't have the same reaction now but upon my first viewing, I thougt the shift was fucking excellent and for whatever reasons.....I forgot completely about how much of a terrible bitch she was.

I think it's also a good thing to mention that sherri moon-zombie maxed out with her acting talent here......take that for what's it's worth as she is terrible but for some reason I think she did a decent job in this film.

They're more like a sampler tray rather than a main dish. A nice sampler tray though.

No he wasn't just as capable of doing those things. They killed his brother. His reaction is completely understandable.

Solid Snake 10-13-08 12:08 PM

There's a difference between torture to death and just straightforward killing someone for revenge. Torture is a whole 'nother form of revenge if you take it to that level. If he just captured them and kill them there on that spot it'd be a gaping whole of a difference in comparison to his torture method.

I think she gave a strong performance in the "Halloween" remake. Her scenes with young Michael in the institution were solid.

I agree. I think some people may have transfered their dislike of the remake onto her. She was very solid.
