I finally got "Top Secret" on DVD and as I watched it I remembered how many times I saw this movie on VHS with my friends... It used to be a tradition at least once a year, gather around, grab a beer, recite the dialogue with the movie and remember all the good times when we first saw the movie (1984, *cough* ) .

We had the same tradition later with "Pulp Fiction".

It's just funny how sometimes a movie can be a catalyst where everyone gets together and just bonds

I also remember watching "Clerks" with my "future" girlfriend (then) and she was moving her fingers through my hair while we were watching the movie. Even though she dumped me 4 years later I can't help thinking about her when I watch "Clerks".

A Christmas Story
It's a Wonderful Life - both of those we watched every single year around Christmas time.

Titanic - I hate the movie for its own merits but it's the first movie I saw with the woman who became my wife.

I watched Die Hard 2 and T2 with my neighbor-friend just about everyday back around '93. Simple times, simpler times.

During Die Hard, I said to myself "I want to be a filmmaker some day". And John McTiernan is the very first director who's name I knew.

Die Hard films were a big ****ing chunk of my childhood.

As for akward memories...

Starship Troopers was the first R movie that I ever saw in the theater with my Dad. I just sunk into my chair during the shower scene.

And, the first nude scene that I ever watched with my Dad was Robocop. It was just a very quick shot in the locker room. He didn't say anything. But I just thought to myself "was that what I think it was?".

Office Space - The girl I was dating and I rented this and put it into the DVD player, but we were so into each other we never saw it (all 3 times we tried to watch it). Good Times. By the way I married that woman.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - reminds me of my uncle who used to take me to the movies all the time.
Ghostbusters 2 - I remember me and 3 of my friends going to this movie and just raggin on each other - Yo thats your moms.

Star Wars Episode I - despite its flaws, it was the last movie my dad and I saw together.

Also, plenty of 80s movies that I grew up watching with my brothers, sister and friends.

Seeing North by Northwest with my Aunt who got me started on this crazy movie obsession thing.

Watching Trapeeze, a really cheesy Burt Lancaster/Tony Curtis movie. I used to love watching that movie on TV when I was a kid. I dreamed of being able to do the triple!

I remember when I was a kid, my dad instituted "Movie Night," where, once a week, the whole family would watch a movie together. The rest of us would always pick some recent film, but the two I remember my Dad picking (I always hated his picks) were Bridge on the River Kwai and Topper. Years later, I've revistied Bridge, and now think it's a wonderful film. One of these days, I'll check out Topper, too.

I didn't see Almost Famous until two weeks ago, but I absolutely fell in love with it. Although I grew up in the late 80s, my friends and I listened to the music of the late 60s and early 70s. Every song on that soundtrack brings back pleasant memories of my youth (even though I wasn't born until a year after the events of the movie).

I remember when my friends and I were 13, we went to see the R-rated Beverly Hills Cop II and spent a good ten minutes outside the theater trying to figure out which of us looked oldest so we could send him to buy the tickets.
