Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
And let's not forget this is WB we are talking about and they are a studio who has been known to make sequels to films that are even slightly successful. How else to explain: The Whole Ten Yards, Analyze that, Miss Congeniality 2, etc.

They were all comedies though. Coming soon: Cats & Dogs 2. And this is not going direct to DVD why?

Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
I have a lot of questions:
1. The Fox logo and the WB logo are going to play at the beginning of the movie? 2. So what does this mean for the DVD release(s)? 3. Does the merge help make a potentially awesome DVD release, or are they going to milk many DVD releases out of this? 4. Will the DVD have the WB and Fox logo? |
Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
Isn't this also a Paramount co production as well?

Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
Well, since Fox won't co-distribute the film in any form, I don't think there will be a Fox logo on this at all - they got their blood money up front plus a piece of the take and future projects, that's it... so WB and Paramount will be the only studio logos on this thing as far as I can tell, and Warner should be handling the home video release as well for North America.

Here's a new TV Spot preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3GPSp4TAMs&fmt=22
check out the rating at the end - RATED R for Strong Graphic Violence, Sexuality, Nudity and Language...yay! No PG-13 and it looks like a strong R! |
Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
Had there ever been any question that it would be R? The book would be tough to film without that rating.

Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
Glad this mess got sorted out...actually I am surprised that it did. But I will eat my words from earlier.
But total bummer that Batman didn't come up. These two had a chance to work it out...but greed as always wins out. The fans get screwed again. |
Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
This forums obsession with MPAA ratings never ceases to amuse me.

Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
I don't know if this has been posted before, but the track listing for the soundtrack is:
1. Desolation Row - My Chemical Romance 2. Unforgettable - Nat King Cole 3. The Times They Are A-Changin' - Bob Dylan 4. The Sound Of Silence - Simon & Garfunkel 5. Me & Bobby McGee - Janis Joplin 6. I'm Your Boogie Man - KC & The Sunshine Band 7. You're My Thrill - Billie Holiday 8. Pruit Igoe & Prophecies – The Philip Glass Ensemble 9. Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen 10. All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix 11. Ride of the Valkyries - Budapest Symphony Orchestra 12. Pirate Jenny - Nina Simone* * - used in the end credits of the "Tales From The Black Freighter" DVD. |
Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
why'd he have to fuck up that awesome soundtrack with my chemical romance? even if it is a bob dylan cover.

It'd be like a guy owes you money, so you bring up the prospect of having his sister giving your cousin her car. It's convoluted and doesn't have any direct benefit to you. |
Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
Soundtrack looks good. Not great though. Cool to see Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah on here. Loses major points for not having the Smashing Pumpkins' fantastic trailer song and the very good MUSE song from trailer #2 on there. Those should be on here as well.

There should be a rule that when a song is used in a movie (especially a popular one) that it should be hands off for any other movie, forever. There was an article about over-use of certain songs in movies that I read a while ago which laid this out very well, purposing new rules - I'll try to find it and post here. |

I don't think it has to do with greed, and more with the fact that this dispute was between the two movie studio divisions, and the Batman TV situation likely involves neither of those divisions, but rather the TV and/or Home Video divisions. The divisions are separate from each other and responsible for their own finances only. It doesn't make sense for Fox Movie Studio to take a huge loss on their income so that Fox Home Video can make some bucks.

At the same time though, all the money is going to the same place...even if the money going out isn't. For instance, my company (rather my employer) works differently on these matters...the main company has the final say on all matters, regardless of how the sister company is run. And they use the logic I stated above...all the money goes to the same place. However, I do see your point. |
Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
I'm surprised they didn't find a way to fit "All Star" in there.

Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
Desolation Row and Ride of the Valkyries have important parts in the book, but I agree about the rest of the songs.
I used to have a rant that Born to be Wild, I Feel Good and Bad to the Bone should never be allowed in another movie again. I think Snyder was going for a Tarrantino style hodge podge of songs, but drawing from a much shallower musical library. |

I don't know what the situation is with the company you work at; e.g. whether it's a corporation, whether it's a federal or state corporation, whether it's a public or private corporation. The biggest difference is whether your company is a subsidiary or a division of the parent corp. In the case of Time Warner, WB is actually a subsidiary of it, and as such is a legally separate entity, so the "what's mine is yours" situation doesn't apply like it would with a division. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Division_(organisation) |
Re: Zack Snyder talks Watchmen
I also thought we were gonna get some Elvis Costello music. Whats the deal? Only in the movie and not on the soundtrack or what?

I love the cheezy style and the level of detail in that short bit!
Is that the CNN International financial editor doing the Dr. Manhattan story? |
