If anyone expect to see the Batman TV Series on DVD because of this lawsuit
is going to be disappointed.

Hope this lawsuit gets settle quickly by Fox and WB.

Nice bit of information in that link, thanks.

Comic Book Resources has seen some footage.

They sound pleased, but this surprised me about how the film opens:

Spoiler:
The film opens with a tight close-up of the Comedian’s smiley face badge and pans back to reveal the iconic anti-hero at age 67, at home, dressed in a bathrobe and smoking a cigar while watching a television news program detailing the tense political situation of “Watchmen’s” 1985, wherein the United States is constantly on the brink of nuclear aggression with Russia. On the TV, real-life talk show pundits Pat Buchanan, Eleanor Clift and John McLaughlin exposit the nature of America’s military superiority in the world: Dr. Manhattan.

Anybody know what the deal is with the animated version that was supposed to be coming out? Chapter 1 got posted on iTunes back in July and nothing else has come. I've watched that first chapter a few times now, really liked the style and am looking forward to seeing how they pull of Ch. 4.

I'll second that that link has some great info. Rights issues can be so complex.

Thanks for the info. I had pretty much given up on checking anymore.

whotony 10-09-08 08:12 AM

i guess those who ordered when it was free won't be getting updates free now.

Giantrobo 10-11-08 04:12 PM

Don't know if this has been posted, or if anyone cares, but if you have XBOX LIVE, Chapter 1 is up for 160 points. I assume 2 will be up sooner or later.

Go to Video store > TV Shows > Networks & Studios > DC > Watchmen Motion Comic

i still hate that song.
maybe if it didn't have that awful droning vocal.

Giantrobo 10-22-08 02:30 PM

I hate Smashing Pumpkins but I have to say that that song fits the heavy-not-a-goofy-comic book movie feel of Watchmen.

islandclaws 10-22-08 02:40 PM

Funny, that's one of the few Smashing Pumpkins songs I can stand.

Footage looks great, even though most is recycled from the teaser. I really want to read the graphic novel beforehand if I can.

chris_sc77 10-22-08 03:17 PM

Well the OFFICIAL RATING IS in. :
RATED R for strong graphic violence, sexuality, nudity and language

LOVING the Spike footage and the teaser poster. March is way too long off from now IMO.

The shot of Dr. Manhattan's hand (and him blowing up the tank). HOLY SHIT.

DVD Josh 10-22-08 04:14 PM

This is going to be bigger and better that TDK, just you wait and see.

Yeah, even with the rehashing I still got some chills.

Wanna bet?

I hope you're right, as a story as good as this deserves to be huge. But Alan Moore films are always horribly done. But no matter how good it hopefully is, there is no way it gets the positive reviews, the hype, or the $ of TDK. No way.

Will then it's obvious....someone from the Watchmen cast must die so the "instant classic" raving can commence.

I can live with that...unless it's Carla Gugino.

discostu1337 10-22-08 08:34 PM

The movie will be fantastic for people that know of the comic...the general public will hate it. 90% of the viewers will think it's an action packed 300/Batman comic film, but the story has little to no action at all. My friend's and I will love it, society will not...they need talking chihuahua's and/or Dane Cook :)

Spot on.

Zen Peckinpah 10-22-08 08:58 PM

I think this could potentially be the first R-rated film to cross $100 million opening weekend.
