Don't invest in AvP and you'll be a step in the right direction. God, I should have sold them off when I was making some what of a profit off it..

I am not getting any better at this, and I have used a higher degree of patience over the last few days than I did before.

Actually, you want people to buy the same stocks you are...the more people that buy a stock, the more it goes up. Likewise, the more people that sell a stock, the more it goes down.

Just before the trading halt for weekend openers, do the calculation: divide the stock's value by 2.9. The result is what the movie is expected to make for opening weekend, according to the HSX players. Because they take the opening weekend and multiply by 2.9, and readjust the stocks to match. (It's not ALWAYS 2.9, so check the calendar first.)
Punisher was somewhere around $33 at trade halt, I think, and it readjusted to above $40. That's why it went up. That's the only time that TRADERS do not make the stock prices change.
I think The Passion of the Christ adjusted from $95 or so to $282 or so.
Play with the numbers on Friday - if you divide the stock values by 2.9 and think the result is much higher than the movie will take in, do a SHORT and cross your fingers. If you think the result is lower than what the box office will be, BUY some. But do it before the trade halt. Also, if you're holding the stock already, and you think it's going to readjust way above or way below your buy price, get rid of it if that will be a negative result for you.
(edited to fix PUT mistake)

Generally, the multiplier is 2.9. On holiday weekends (for example, the upcoming Memorial Day weekend), they tend to use 2.5. For Wednesday opening movies, they tend to use W+Th+2.9*(Weekend). Those aren't hard and fast rules, though, so like shill 66 said -- check the calendar!

One minor correction -- where shill66 says "PUT," he means SHORT.

wow, what a terrible week so far. The cash out from the weekend calls and pulls gave me a nice chump of change to get me out of the red from a terrible week before.
Sorry about that HITCH tip to sup.. man, that one back fired quickly if you didn't get in on it when it was 51.00

Actually, for me, Hitchhikers Guide is the driving force behind my portfolio. In less than a week it has gone up over $14 a share.

Though I have a feeling it won't last.

HITCH has earned me a good something something once it came back up.
I think that if you hold on to it long enough it will be LOTR status. I'm sure it will slowly climb and fall from now and it's release but news leaks and other things of that matter will boost it.
I'm just waiting for AVSP to come back up so I can dump that already. I put waaay to much stock in it and it has hit me for 174,000 which I hope to atleast break even on. When it dropped down it took me from being in the top 10 to around 14 or 15th. rather hard hitting.

I just recently opened my DVD talk account, and after only three days, Pirates 3 has made me close to $250,000, although I don't think I can hold out until it is released and reaches it's full potential.
