My wife loves dumb comedies too, likes Ben Stiller, loves Vince Vaughn, and she didn't like Dodgeball. So, I guess you're right.

I honestly thought this thread would be shredding this movie apart for its lack of humor and originality. I'm surprised. Anyways, I wasn't looking to rain on anybody's parade.

As for my script, how do you post a 100 page Final Draft document?

I thought the movie was very entertaining in a "turn the brain off and laugh for a while" kind of way.

I also think the DVD had one of the few extras that I really thought the movie suffered for losing: The triangle of shame was very funny, even as a deleted scene.

Oh, and I cannot get the "milkshakes" image out of my brain whenever I hear that song's hook...

Vince Vaughn's character's demeanor in this movie reminded me a lot of Adam Brody's character on the O.C. (Seth Cohen). The cameo by Chuck Norris nearly made me fall out of my chair

Speaking of great cameos:

Lance Armstrong (as himself): "When I found out I had brain, lung and testicular cancer all at the same time, I thought about quitting, too. But with the support of my family and friends, I wound up getting back on the bike, and winning five (now six) Tour de Frances in a row. So ... what are you dying of?"

Vince Vaughn: "Shame."

The more times I watch this movie, the worse it gets. It was on FX tonight and I question how I liked it when I saw it in the theater.

I think it's hilarious. If I ever (I won't) made a list of my favorite comedies, it would probably land in the top 20.

My favorite line is after Fran is introduced in the bar and she blasts some guy with a ball.
Justin Long turns to his friend and whispers, "I think that guy might really be dead."

I really enjoyed the movie, but Stiller is extremely annoying. It would be a classic comedy w/o his over-the-top performance. He just can't find a comedic middle ground b/tw straight guy (Mary, THK) and extremely annoying, over-the-top guy (Zoolander, S&H, Dodgeball).

Oddly enough I was watching bits of this the other day on TV and still enjoyed it quite a bit. I actually like Ben Stiller's over the top role here far better then most of his other roles.

Damn... 4 y old thread.. i was just a boy back then.

Saw it several times since it release and still think it's avg at best..
There hasn't been a "new Old School" that can match the old one... but Anchorman got damn close.

Old School is overrated and was made by a worthless fucking hack.

Anchorman and Dodgeball are in leagues of their own.

Out of Dodgeball, Anchorman and Old School, HANDS DOWN Old School is the best.

The exit is right over there. Old School just tries too hard to be fun. Just like Phillips' Road Trip -- and the less said about Starsky and Hutch and School for Scoundrels, the better.

I honestly do feel that Dodgeball is the perfect satire of the sports genre.

Anchorman is in a league of it's complete own. Easily one of the greatest comedies ever made.

You don't think ANCHORMAN tries too hard to be funny? Seriously? Will Ferrel is planning the same damn character he does in every movie and it is WAY over the top. The entire movie is WAY over the top.

Old School & Dodgeball are so overrated and I am suprised how many people love these movies that I know. I think they have funny parts to them, but they aren't THAT funny. I think comedies have changed in the past 20 years, give me Caddyshack, Stipes, and Animal House anyday of the week over the crap today.

Will Ferrell did not make Anchorman the comedy that it is.

The entire supporting cast makes Anchorman the comedy that it is.

I like Anchorman more each time I watch it. It is like the Big Lebowski in that manner for me.

Yea, but his character sure turned me away from that film. EVERYONE tried way to hard. Steve Carell was way over the top and tried way to hard to be funny. Look what he is doing to the Office.

I will give you the Big Lebowski on that one. It took me a second watch to love that movie.
