I wasn't braced for how lackluster a film could be, but Scooby Doo 2 was pretty underwhelming. There are a few laughs, but the CGI is really really bad (Scooby Doo's lighting/shading was so bad that he basically stood out in every scene he was in).

Not really susprised. Just reconfirms my notion that most people are idiots.

Just confrims my suspicions that if a movie is made to appeal to kids, it will make a decent profit regardless of how stupid it proves.

haha... saw it for free.
there's one part where something else can be seen on daphney's outfit.
there were some good parts. but a lot was misleading or things left out.

If there is a God, this film will flop and we will no longer have any more live action Scooby Doo films.
While it did have a $30 million weekend, the budget for the film is around $100 million and the film made almost half of the original's opening weekend gross (which was $54 million).
The first one raped my childhood for 90 minutes. Because of that, I have no urge to see this sequel at all.

maybe I'm too easily amused...but I enjoyed both the first film and this one... sure, they aren't high art and are not very well made, but for 90 minutes of mindless fun it delivered. Quite a few laughs and of course, Linda Cardellini and SMG.... mmmmmmm.....

hey, I have a soon-to-be 5 year old daughter who is all about anything and everything Scooby Doo. What's to discriminate? We went and saw this today and it actually wasn't terrible. of course you can't have any expectations with this kind of thing, but for what it is intended as, it succeeds. she loved it, I chuckled a few times, and overall it was very passable matinee fare. I was forced to see the first one too, and I must say that this one is actually better. I am the first one to rail against braindead movie goers and the schlock that gets peddled to them - but this isn't in that category. Vin Deasel and all that 2 fast crap are far more troubling than a silly scooby doo flick targeted at the 12 and under crowd.

oh, and I don't think there's a parent out there that wouldn't agree to one big point: the live action movies are MILES beyond those atrocious and tedious new animated "adventures" they keep releasing every few months.

If you have kids, take them, have absolutely no expectations about being entertained and you won't be disappointed. We had a day trip planned but was cancelled due to rain. We went and caught this movie at a matinee. Goes after the cheap laughs and gags with fart jokes.
