I was hoping they would at least keep Aeon close to her cartoon character by having her dialogue kept to a minimum, but it seems like want to take the route of her making pithy remarks before and after killing people. I also don't dig the female partner: are they trying to to get a "their lesbians, but we're not admitting it!" vibe going? And what is with Frances McDormand's character, haven't we gotten enough of the wacked-out prophet crap in sci-fi?

This movie has been delayed several times, so that means either its effects are very complicated, or it is in a state of suck and needs lots of editing to resemble what some might consider decent. The way I would gauge it is if it gets released with an R or PG-13. If it gets an R and they release it that way, then it means it must be pretty good and the studio feels confident that good word of mouth will keep it afloat. If it gets a PG-13, well, if that's what they wanted, then it's obvious it was made for teens in the first place and its quality will be debatable. If it starts with an R then gets a PG-13 later, then it means the movie stinkst to high heaven and the studio knows the only way to get any money from the theatrical release is to try and get as many ignorant teens into the theater as possible for one weekend.

As far as I'm concerned the whole project was doomed when, if this story is true, the Star wanted Aeon's outfit to cover her more.

Looks to have some cool action sequences though I'm not so sure about that dialogue.

Saw the new trailer..ehh. I mean I guess it's what I expected. I don't know why I have such low expectations for Hollywood movies now but I do.

The costumes are really horrible. Hair is just as bad. While I know they would not make a movie with sparse dialoge, it seems to stray far from the tone of the animation's overall tone. Some of the trailer looks interesting. I'm thinking matinee.

I can't say I think that looks good...at all. What's with the one liners? Aeon said more words in that trailer then the character did in the entire series!

Overall, looks kinda lame imo. I'll need some positive reviews to make me want to see it.

It looks interesting. I'll watch it without the girlfriend, or rent it. I don't think she knows enough of the series to grasp what the draw is, other than Theron being hot.

That was... well... something. I guess they'll advertise this as "inspired by the title of Aeon Flux" because that's where the similarities end.

Wow! The entire series is coming out in a few months?? That is some of the best DVD news I've heard in a long time!

I kept avoiding Aeon Flux DVDs in the past because they were just "best of", which I think is silly since there were so few episodes in the first place.

I think you guys are forgetting one thing: it's Charlize Theron. I think it's in her contract she has to get her kit off at least once in any given movie.

As of this point, it looks like AEON FLUX is not going to be screened for the press.

I think the actress who plays Aeon Flux should've been skinnier than Charlize Theron. I mean ultra skinny. I think Uma Thurman could've played this part well. They could've made Uma fast like Bale in the Machinist, maybe IMO she'd make a more convincing Aeon Flux. The original Aeon Flux did not have an hour glass figure or even a boring typical model face like Theron. She was exotic, like Uma.

One thing that I loved about the cartoon so much was how STRANGE it was. It was very very weird. Is the movie going to be weird in the same way? Or is it going to be a corny "chicks with guns" thing. I'm extremely skeptical about this movie. Guess we'll have to wait and see it to know for sure. I think it'll be another Tomb Raider (shitty movie imo). And Ebert will probably give it high ratings because he's a fat slob.

Oh, and Aeon Flux's thong would've been a nice thing to keep in the movie. But noooo. *sigh*

Anyway, I'm just happy that the animated version is coming out tomorrow. I'm satisfied. Still haven't decided if I'm going to go see the Theron movie yet. It'll depend on word of mouth from trusted sources.

Charlize Theron in a thong

As it is, I'll rent it. Maybe tell the girlfriend that it's some sort of women empowerment movie, and I'm trying to help them out.
