That's pretty pathetic, seriously - why would you say that? "9/11 didn't effect me, but there's this Hong Kong movie"

Although he didn't react stupid for the second part (well, the "matrix people" should have been left out of his speech) of the question, he sure as hell did for the first.

Ah well, I still love his movies anyway.

I guess he could've been a lil' more sensitive.

He's a horrible actor and his best film was Jackie Brown.
Kill Bill Vol.1 was a rung above mediocre.

Greatest director of all time, that's a fact, Jack.

My idol.

Like another poster said, he was referring to how it affected him as a filmmaker.... which it didn't. I actually like the example he gives about how people are shocked over a movie made before the fact. From the 2nd question, it looked like he reacted just like everyone else did. I dont see any reason to lose respect for him for that.

If someone asked... "How has 9/11 affected your DVD buying habits" i wouldn't go into some narrative about how life changing it was... because that wasn't the question.

I loved Reservoir Dogs.
I liked Pulp Fiction.
I was 'meh' on Jackie Brown.
I didn't like Kill Bill, Part 1.

So whatever else he is, he's not a great filmmaker. If you'd asked me my opinion 10 years ago I would have had a different answer.

He was asked if it affected him personally and creatively - and he ignored both questions (as usual) and came up with his own response which of course, didn't really hit on anything.

Like it or not, he's a great jackass of a director.[B]

How did he ignore both questions? He answered them both directly. He said it didn't affect him creatively, and personally he was affected the same way as most people... it scared the bejesus out of him. Although i agree the rest of his response really didnt have to do with anything.

I may be missing out on something I have not read -

I did not see where he said he was affected personally like most people, I only saw the original write up from this thread.

I'll stop though - the last thing I want is a bashing because of a lack of information on my part.

I'm your buddy.

Somewhere in between. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are fantastic. I didn't care much for Jackie Brown. Not bad, but kind of dull. Kill Bill Vol I was ok, not great IMO.

He does have a huge ego though, for having made only 2 great (IMO) movies in his career.

Just watched Jackie Brown today and I thought that he pretty much captured perfectly Elmore Leonard's tone from "Rum Punch". Couple that with his pacing and direction from Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, he's got a pretty good track record.

Jackie Brown

Ordell: "Look, I hate to be the kinda ***** does a ***** a favor, then, BAM!, hits a ***** up for a favor in return. But I'm afraid I gotta be that kinda *****."

Beaumont: "What?"

Ordell: "I need a favor."
