Heir to the Empire takes place 5 years or so after Jedi............the cast would be too old to pull it off

not if you just use their voices and make them all CG.

I don't see Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and especially Harrison Ford jumping on this.

Although the Speilberg idea sound very cool.

That's another reason the new jedi order storyline could work, it takes place 20+ years after Jedi, so the cast would be the perfect age.

It would be tough to condense the story. They'd probably just have to take the basics, a few important plot pieces and disregard the rest.

OFF TOPIC!
I was watching the Phantom Menace the other day and I realize it's a lot better than Attack Of The Clones, which I can't even watch in it's entirety...both are very mediocre, but EP1 is more enjoyable.

ON TOPIC: Please god...please do not let this happen. I was just celebrating the fact that all the trilogy franchise's will be over in 2005, I can't express enough how we must destroy the Matrix, Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings wars for good...

I would be looking forward to SW 7-9 if Lucas let Peter Jackson direct all three.

After seeing the final Lord of the Rings film does anyone even care about Episode III anymore?

Only to see what happens to Anakin. I wonder if he and Padme will have kids? Or if his growing dissonance with Obi-Wan leads him to do terrible things? Will this truly be the "Balance of the Force" that Yoda refers to?

Ooo... I can't wait another year and a half!

I want to see episode 3. I also would be interested in seeing episode 7, 8, 9 if they make them.

I've always thought that the announcment that Lucas was finished with Star Wars forever after he wraps up the current trilogy was an empty threat. Why? Because Lucas said the *EXACT* same thing after Jedi wrapped.

These movies take a lot out of the guy - a hard pace to keep up for 10 years straight. So it's very understandable when one section is winding down, that he says 'piss off' as people start bugging him about more.

Give him a couple of years after E3 to unwind, and I'm sure his thoughts will start drifting back to E7, 8 and 9.

No shit. Guys, I love LOTR's, hell enough to buy props of it. But come on, can't both LOTR and Star Wars Co-exist or does it have to be a constant struggle of one upping another? I personally can't wait till episode III after the very little I have seen and heard so far.

The rumor is that he's gay. So, unless she wears a Rock Hudson mask (they knew about Rock a long time ago in a galaxy far away, didn't they? ) there ain't gonna be no kids. Then again maybe she has a thing for little green men with pointy ears.

If does shoot 7,8, and 9 then hopefully he will follow the LOTR model and shoot all three movies at once.

if someone other than lucas writes and directs it I would really look forward to it... screw you guys, even if lucas were to direct it I would look forward to it, I like star wars, even if ep 1 and 2 were disappointments I am glad they were made

but that doesn't matter since we won't know for sure for a couple years probably

Unfortunately it's the way of the world . . . people love to argue. Just check out the threads over in Otter . . . make a few small substitutions and you've got 75% of the conversations.

Of course that last one is just silly because the important thing is that they are both better than twikoff . . .

I will be there for the first showing of Episode III. Why? Because I want this dang PT to be said and done and close the book on the SW chapter of my life.
After I view III, I will head home and immediately pop in the LOTR EE DVD sets and watch them in their entirety.

I have no pity that it takes Lucas 10 years of his life to make a trilogy. Why does he take so long anyway? They did both Matrix and LOTR trilogies in about 5 years.

Why don't people just come up with NEW ideas? I mean, do we really need a "Starsky and Hutch" movie? Sheeesh.

What I find funny is how many people just jumped on the Lucas bash bandwagon without even reading or realizing how unsubstantial this news topic is.
Agreed! Another completely useless thread. This talk of a new trilogy is nothing more than rumor mongering. Lucas has flatly stated that there will be no more SW films, ever. TV, probably! Films, no! If the best evidence that you can come up with is that Mayhew said he had a clause in his contract for new films, which he has already said isn't the case, then you're reaching.

I would be looking forward to SW 7-9 if Lucas let Peter Jackson direct all three.
Um no! No thanks! If by some miracle a new trilogy does happen, which it won't, and Lucas doesn't want to direct, let it be Spielberg, Scott, or Cameron, all of whom eat Peter Jackson for lunch. Hell, I'd take David Fincher over Jackson. He has some talent, but I found LOTR boring. If you don't, more power to ya. But the last thing I want is a Star Wars film from Jackson. It wouldn't even be a Star Wars film if Jackson directed it.

I have no pity that it takes Lucas 10 years of his life to make a trilogy.
When did Lucas ask for your pity?

Didn't Lucas say a couple years ago that there was never an Episode 7, 8, & 9? (despite saying in the 70's and 80's that he had written SW to be 9 films?)

They should just take the Zahn trilogy! Those books were incredible! I thought they were better (storywise) than the original trilogy (though the original triology set everything up for the Zahn novels)

[OT] I LOVED AOTC! Thought it was amazing! The last hour was the best full hour out of all the SW movies. I got the same feeling watching AOTC as I did watching SW for the first time!

I realize that you might have really enjoyed LoTR but I doubt there is a single movie that has been made or will be made that will make me lose interest in all future films.
