If he doesnt win an Oscar there is no justice in this world!

Sean takes another Best Supporting Actor award from the Las Vegas Film Critics. Congrats to Sean.

This bodes well for at least an Oscar nomination.

I wish I felt that this was the case. Unfortunately, the supporting actor category is very crowded and I'm not confident that Sean will be able to break into the ranks.... Though I though his performance to be very deserving as he fully captured the character.

I found it interesting that EW didn't even mention him as a contender in their recent "Oscar Buzz" issue...even with these critics awards.

Listen..... lets face it...... he will face stiff competition by alot of actors.....


He does deserve the Nod but he will likely not win.

Honestly, I would be very surprised if he even gets the nom.
Seattle and Las Vegas aren't exactly big indicators - and Astin was ignored at the Golden Globes which tend towards the bigger films.

MrN, are you saying that Lord of the Rings is not one of the "bigger films"?

He deserves a nomination at the very least.

We will know when the SAG noms are announced. Sean's mom (Patty Duke) was the president of SAG, and that means her influence stretches pretty far. If he gets in with the SAG, I think he has an excellent chance.

Well, it's the SAG members who also vote on the Oscars, so if he wins the SAG award and is nominated for an Oscar, it's likely (though not surely) that he could also win the Oscar.

Unless the members consider the SAG award to be the consolation prize, which seems to be the case some years.

We already know there is no justice in this world.
