Honestly, I would be very surprised if he even gets the nom.
Seattle and Las Vegas aren't exactly big indicators - and Astin was ignored at the Golden Globes which tend towards the bigger films.

We will know when the SAG noms are announced. Sean's mom (Patty Duke) was the president of SAG, and that means her influence stretches pretty far. If he gets in with the SAG, I think he has an excellent chance.

Well, it's the SAG members who also vote on the Oscars, so if he wins the SAG award and is nominated for an Oscar, it's likely (though not surely) that he could also win the Oscar.
Unless the members consider the SAG award to be the consolation prize, which seems to be the case some years.
