Is LXG that bad?

With the release date of December 16, for the "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" coming up. Has anyone actually seen the film. Is the movie as bad as all the reviews say it is?

Naw, everybody was expecting Alan Moore and was disappointed because that's not what they got. The movie, on its own, really wasn't that bad. (But for the fact that Connery was constantly referred to as Alan Quartermain instead of Quatermain.)

I don't know, I love the graphic novel, and was dissapointed, but I went with a friend who knew nothing about the comic. His response to the film?

"It was worth every penny I paid."

I paid for his ticket! The bastard.

Toss up on that. However LXG, for what it is worth, is my 8-year old son's favorite movie of the year and I did not fall asleep like I did on Looney Toons Back in Action.

Spend the money on the graphic novel instead. You'll probably read it within the same amount of time you would have spent watching the movie. Great stuff.

It wasn't the most painful experience of my life. It also wasn't the most original, exciting or memorable experience of my life. I could have found better ways to spend two hours.

Sounds like the overwhelming amount of drivel from Hollywood

Yeah, that movie was absolutely horrendous. Between the everchanging size of the ship and the wannabe Hulk, i nearly vomited.

Typical Hollywood drivel. They took a collection of literary characters and made them all action heros. I wept when Captain Nemo started doing wire-fu and Mina Harker was turned into a vampire.

When I first saw the trailer I immediately thought of THE AVENGERS which just so happens to star Sean Connery as well. So My expectations of LXG were really really low.

Well it was so bad that it didnt even meet my expectations.

One of the worst films of the year....especially if you've read the novels the characters originated from.

One of the worst films of the decade!

Too bad cause it had Peta Wilson of La Femme Nikita, and our course the original 007!

Compared to the graphic novel it is a huge disappointment and wasted opportunity. In fact, to call it an adaptation of the graphic novel is unfair. They really just took the premise and went in their own misguided direction with it.

If you can get past that, it's a fairly entertaining film. I won't be buying it on DVD, but will probably watch it again.

It's like expecting Keira Knightly but getting Jessica Simpson instead.

Never read any source material, but I have to say it's bad. Really bad. This is one superhero / comic book movie I am not going to be getting even though I have The Hulk and Daredevil.

I found it to be entertaining. Not outstanding, but not as poor as some made it out to be. Considering my father liked it (and he hates most modern films) I guess its not too bad. Definately a rental unless you are a Connery completist.
