Okay I guess I'm the only one who made the connection.

I think if they did this it would be perfect casting. It would get both old fans and the new. And I hope that if they do give bats a love intrest he wont go blabbing his secret like a house wife like he did in all the other movies.

Ok so Katie Holmes doesn't particularly stand out for her acting abilities... but how about this latest bit from SuperHeroHype:
"Michael Caine, who will play Alfred the butler in the upcoming new Batman film, told SCI FI Wire that director Christopher Nolan is eyeing Lord of the Rings star Viggo Mortensen to play the villain in the film, which is slated to begin production in April 2004. In an interview, Caine wouldn't specify which villain role Mortensen (Rings' Aragorn) is up for.
Caine said Nolan's Batman script creates a deeper role for Alfred than previous films. "We start when Batman is a baby, so I'm more like a father," Caine said in an interview. "I'm a father who knows how to lay a table with the knives and forks in the right places."
Viggo has only impressed me in LOTR, as the trailers for Hidalgo don't look particularly good to me, but still an interesting possibility.

On the other hand, based on Phone Booth, I think she could do the supporting character/obligatory sweet girlfriend bit just fine. Unless they have bigger plans for her character. if the latter, I'll have to wait and see while hoping for the best.

And last time I checked, there's hardly any T&A in that movie anyway unless you count Vendela floating in a glass tube arousing. I'll enjoy what I want to enjoy thank you.

If you are going to whine and bitch about T&A in Batman and Robin - then at least make a decent argument...The fact that the suits had nipple's on our hero's!
Katie Holmes = yum and good actress. The Gift and Phone Booth was both great.
As for the villian....First, has it been confirmed that Ra Al Ghul is the villian? If not - then no comments..If so, then Viggo is the worst choice possible.
Jason Issacs
Christopher Walken
Or
Terrance Stamp
Those are the only three I vouch for.

Ah, if you vouch for them then its ok
News galore coming from SuperHeroHype:
"Cillian Murphy ("28 Days Later," "Girl with a Pearl Earring") has landed the role of one of the Caped Crusader's villains in Warner Bros.' new Batman film! Which villain he would play was not yet announced. The young Irish actor would become the fourth to be cast in the Christopher Nolan-helmed project that stars Christian Bale. He first came to the attention of Nolan after he tested for the role of Batman.
Michael Caine has also joined the cast to play Alfred and the producers are now zeroing in on Katie Holmes to play the female lead subject to a screen test with Nolan.
The film's plot, scripted by David Goyer, is being kept tightly under wraps, but the studio and Nolan are gearing up for a 2004 start date and 2005 release."
And Caine signed a 3 picture deal:
Will you do more than one Batman?
I’ve got a three picture deal. I’ve never had a three picture deal in my life. I feel like a blonde with big boobs. They always get a three picture deal. I never got one, and this is it. And I didn’t have to screw the producer or nothing.
It’s a three picture deal and it’s great. It’s an old age pension for me if it works. I hope the first one’s a hit.

Alright - what villian does he look like? This pretty much rules out Ra Al Ghul as the main villian or for that matter, even being in the movie at all.
My guess? Scarecrow.

Am I the only person who gets worried over the quote: "Cillian Murphy ("28 Days Later," "Girl with a Pearl Earring") has landed the role of one of the Caped Crusader's villains in Warner Bros.' new Batman film!"
IMO what really ruined the Batman movies was trying to cram in multiple villians.
One movie; one major villian, please.

I don't think its going to be a bad thing. I mean, Catwoman and Penguin worked fairly decently (although i guess thats debatable). As long as the villans don't overshadow Batman, i think it'll be fine.

Regarding having 2 villians..... sources have said that the Scarecrow villian will have a small role at the beginning of the movie and that's it. So if that is true then having 2 villians will not appear to be much of a problem. At least as far as overshadowing Batman is concerned. But who knows at this point anyway since filming won't begin until February.

If he is indeed casted as Scarecrow it could work out. I know durin' the ending, where he goes ape-shit durin' 28 Days Later, it's the best part of the movie.
I just think they need to hurry up and show us the outfits!
