This sounds like it will be pretty good.

And I second Terrence Stamp. He would make a kick ass Ra's Al Ghul

not sure why people are so skeptical of Bale as Batman... Keaton was the best film batman ever and Im not sure anyone thought he'd be worth a crap in the role before the premier. Lets give bale a shot, if the flick gets released and he sucks, then fine... but considering the history of movie batmen it seems silly to prejudge.

Is Caine really Alfred? It just seems like a bit part, although it can certainly be written to be bigger. I don't think Daniel Day-Lewis will be in it, although I can see how that would be a good role for him. But you think he'd do a Batman movie?

I agree.

I'm still looking forward to an Aronofsky Batman, but this will do. Hurray for Bale!

Wait, Terence Stamp was General Zod!

Can one actor play TWO comic movie nemeses?

I'm not familiar with this Ghul, but I'm all for resurrecting the Batman character as long as it's not done with endless explosions and an overdose of camp humor.

Honk!

Jason Isaacs in Harry Potter

Terence Stamp

Did he?

I know he had a small role in Star Wars 2, and he's in the first two LOTR films, but neither of them are based on comics, are they?

Sure, they are the cornerstones of geek civilization, yes.
I'm more referring to the fact that, if cast, Stamp would play Superman's movie enemy AND Batman's movie enemy. It'd be like casting Gene Hackman as the Kingpin or Willem Dafoe as Doctor Doom.

(I don't know too many comic characters, so excuse my anaologies)

But Terence Stamp played Zod over 25 years ago. He looked much different then... leaner, meaner and younger.

Very similar, even down to having similar sized breasts.

speaking of breasts, doesnt it seem that old guy in the comic is copping a feel ?

It's the Batman's hand. He is trying to stop Talia from taking Ras before he has gotten to the Lazarus pit for rejuvenation.

How about Stamp going against Spider-Man as The Vulture? Actually, that's not too bad!

Extra points for calling him THE Batman.

He should have said Ian McKellen who was in The Shadow (which borrowed from both the comic's and radio show's different interpretations of the character), X-Men and X2.

And Jennifer Connelly already has two comic book films under her belt. The Rocketeer and Hulk. What's one more?

Oh and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos is in X-Men, X2 and The Punisher.

But Eliza Dushku as Talia al Ghul? That's a terrible idea. Though, I don't think Connelly quite looks the part (though beautiful, just doesn't have the vibe I associate with Talia) either, she's much better choice than Dushku IMO.

Katie Holmes Lured by Bat Signal

Wed, Dec 10, 2003, 09:12 AM PT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Katie Holmes digs a man in a cowl.

The 24-year-old "Dawson's Creek" actress is on her way to playing Christian Bale's love interest, Rachel, in the new Warner Bros. "Batman" movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Batman" will follow the early career of the Caped Crusader (Bale) and his dark past. In November, it was reported that Michael Caine would play Bruce Wayne's trusty butler, Alfred.

The latest of the Dark Knight's adventures is scripted by David Goyer, who also wrote big-screen adaptations for the "Blade" trilogy, and Christopher Nolan, who will also direct.

Holmes got her big break as Joey on the WB's "Dawson's Creek." She moved to films with Ang Lee's "The Ice Storm" (1997) and 2000's "Wonder Boys." She currently stars in the indie "Pieces of April" and will appear in the teen comedy "First Daughter" in 2004.

Jigga WHAT?

Katie Holmes?

She's cute 'n' all, but I thought they'd get someone a little more glamorous.

Oh, how I miss the Hitchcock blonde...

I've never really liked her but for some reason in Phone Booth I found her cute. She might actually do well in this film (so far the casting has been excellent and I doubt the would cast her unless they were absolutely sure she could deliver) but.... Does this mean no Talia?
