Neither deserved to be even nominated. They nominated them to get publicity.

Speak for yourself. I think Revolutions was a heaping pile of sh*t. I found one hell of a lot more to enjoy in TPM and AOTC than I'll ever find to enjoy about Revolutions, despite their flaws. It got ripped by critics far worse than either SW prequel, and it deserved it every bit of it. Just an idiotic, convoluted movie with a stupid ending, not to mention some dialogue that makes AOTC love story dialogue seem tame by comparison. Acting that doesn't make Jake Lloyd seem so bad, even though he was.

But that's just one person's opinion. Well, maybe a lot of people's opinion judging by critics.
I agree with everything you said.

From Boxofficemojo.com (Nov 14/16 weekend):

The Matrix Revolutions took a huge drop in the international marketplace and made it tough for it to cross $300m Warner Brothers estimates that Revolutions grossed $20.5m over the weekend, which brings its total to $229.7m. Despite substantial drops in the U.K., France, Germany, Spain, and Italy, Japan recorded a superb 21% fall. Thanks to a $4.396m weekend in Japan the third installment of The Matrix Revolutions has a $35.872m total and should cross $50m by the end of its run.

However, in the European markets Revolutions dropped over 50% in most markets. In the U.K. the film grossed $1.949m, down 55% for an estimated cume of $26.182m. The film dropped 50% in France on a $2.04m weekend for a $21.532m total. Revolutions was even worse in Germany (down 57%) and Italy (off 67%) generating totals of $14.562m and $11.134m respectively. In Spain the movie fell 51% on a $1.153m weekend for a $11.397m total.

The signs do not look good for The Matrix Revolutions crossing $500m worldwide, which before its release seemed like a sure thing. Three markets stand out in Russia, Japan, and China, but everywhere else Revolutions has been very much below expectations.

That's too bad. Revolutions was far, far better than Reloaded, but I doubt that even a clearer ending would have impoved the box office.

I'm wondering where the posters who laughed me out of another thread when I suggested REVOLUTIONS wouldn't make as much domestically as THE HULK have gone? I said it wouldn't surpass $160M domestically, and it doesn't look like it's going to even make it to $150M!

I wonder if small kids are as ticked off about the quality of THE CAT IN THE HAT as us adults are at the quality of REVOLUTIONS? Thank goodness we have ROTK next month!

Revolutions is at 125M in three weeks. It is about a week ahead of THE HULK. Still, I agree these numbers are vastly lower than Warner Brothers anticipated.

I'm hoping CITH drops as fast as Matrix:Rev - it really looks bad.
