I actually liked the first five films in the franchise........I know my taste is horrible.
But I agree with the people who think they need to re-imagine the franchise as opposed to making another sequel. Actually I think John Carpenters original Idea to make the Halloween franchise a totally different story each time out would have been awesome.

I say they make Halloween in Space have NOTHING to do with Michael Myers. Instead, have NASA buy some fancy new spacesuit helmets from a little company by the name of Silver Shamrock. Then, right as they are getting ready to take off, over the speakers we hear "10 more seconds 'til lift off, 'til lift off, 10 more seconds 'til lift off, til lift off...SILVER SHAMROCK".
Craziness follows.

As for the "Jason space fiasco", when has there ever been a good Friday the 13th movie anyway?

Why don't we just finally have Ash vs Michael vs Jason vs Freddy vs Leprechaun vs Pinhead vs Leatherface on a space station with a bunch of scantily clad teenaged astronauts.

This is a horrible idea. In my opinion Halloween 1,2, and H20 are the only good ones. I would have liked it though if they did do Carpenters idea to do a different story each time.

Akkad has just buried Halloween with his stupidity. Halloween should have ended with the first sequel. But having said that, even the bad Halloween films are better than the Friday the 13th garbage. I honestly have never enjoyed a single Friday the 13th film. Even though Halloween has sucked of late, it's art design, production values, and acting has always been a notch or two above the Friday series, though that's not saying much.
At least Halloween can claim the classic original and the good first sequel. The 4th Halloween film was pretty good with some very good atmosphere. Friday can't claim much period.

It would be nice to have one set in the 1700 or 1800s. Maybe with Johnny Depp in it as an opium-addicted detective who has unconventional means of detective work so he goes to a sleepy upstate New York town where people find him to be a possibly gay pirate.

Man I hope that's true. Just for the inevitable creative gore. Though I've yet to see a Japanese director that was able to get good acting out of english actors. But being this is Halloween > 1, it'll work either way.

Even crazier is Miike as the director. There's no way.

It's not real. They previously listed Oliver Stone and "Mike Hunt" (OMG LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!) as directors. The IMDb has become absolutely useless for info on upcoming films -- any halfway-anticipated film that's more than a year or two away is practically guaranteed to fall victim to the new sport of choice among IMDb users, "see who can get the dumbest and/or most unlikely credit past the site's nonexistent screening process."

I actually liked 4. I thought at least with that film, they tried to get back to the style of the original, with the creepy atmosphere. Halloween 5 was pretty much a remake of 4. Halloween 6 and 8 stunk to high heaven. Halloween 7 was pretty decent. Season of the Witch also stunk, and shouldn't have even used the Halloween name.
I think they should have stopped with Halloween II. I felt the sequel was a very worthy follow-up that finished the story well.
