when I first saw the thread, I thought it said "Michael Keaton dead at 55"...
this is a shame. his work, particularly on the Die Hard & Lethal Weapon series, was outstanding..
why the hell don't we have a cure for MS yet..? jeezus.
RIP

I think of all the scores of his I have heard, the one for Terry Gilliam's The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen was the best. One of his lesser known, as well.
He added so much to the Pink Floyd albums. They're probably very down about this news.

Damn that's really sad. I'm sorry to hear that, I had no idea he had MS. Like everyone else, I enjoyed his scores immensely, but I what I'll always remember about Kamen was his performance with Aerosmith at MTV 10, the 10th anniversary of MTV. They played Dream On and I get chills every time I hear it to this very day(I never go more than a week without listening to it). Just incredible stuff, and I'll listen to that until I"m old and grey. To me, that was my favorite day of using the internet when I realized I could get that off Napster.
RIP Michael Kamen.

We lost one of the greats. Mr. Holland's Opus, An American Symphony, boy, that was an amazing piece. Not to mention the theme to Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Really is a shame Best to his family and friends.

A big loss to film-making...he was one of my favorite screen composers. I "air-directed" the opening overture to Prince of Thieves more times than I can remember.
Best wishes to his friends and family.

Bummer. I first notice Kamen when I'm on junior high school, on his score for Disney's Three Musketeers. I think the score is better than the movie itself. One of the first movie composer I know. He will be missed.
