I was thinking about this too. My friend brought up the other day, "Hey guess what... Matrix Revolutions comes out Wednesday." My response was just an: "... oh yeah, that's right"
I don't think I need to repeat why Revolutions doesn't have as much hype as Reloaded. Most of these guys hit it on the spot.

I absolutely loved Reloaded (five times in the theater and the DVD is continually finding it's way back into the player) and am SO hyped for Wednesday night. I was going to pick up the new Dark Tower book tomorrow, but I wouldn't be able to concentrate on reading it.

I loved Reloaded and am looking forward to Revolutions
I also liked the rave scene.
I will either see it wednesday night after work or thursday morning. I will then enjoy the talk here about it

Reloaded was a totally satisfying experience for me, except for the Morhpeous speech scene, and the architect dialogue, which only amount to a small part of the movie
I think the reason I am not as hyped up for this movie, I mean I didn't even realize it was coming out this week, is because I had unrealistic expectations for reloaded, since the matrix was the coolest movie I have ever seen in my life, I don't think I have ever walked out of a theatre for any other movie in my life in a higher state of geek euphoria... so now I only really expect revolutions to be as good as reloaded

Yeah, people have been telling me that they're surprised the next Matrix is out again. Most people haven't seen anything and they say that the hype isn't there.
I thought Reloaded was okay--the action scenes weren't as visceral as the first but it attempted to be much more philosophical than the first. I know this is why it left a lot of bad tastes in people's mouths.
If it's any consolation to the fans, Reloaded allowed me to appreciate the first movie a LOT more.

My favorite part of the original Matrix was Agent Smith so I was happy when I knew he would be in Reloaded, but I was hugely disappointed in the "thousand Smiths" fight scene. The CGI just looked so plasticky and horrendous to me. I am not even a big CGI critic, but I just was very distracted while watching that scene.
Back to the point of this thread, I will be seeing this movie. I will not be going opening night, but I don't like to see any movie that way because I like to avoid the crowds. I just want to see how they tie everything up, and if they get some better fight scenes.

i love how 2 minutes out of a movie completely ruin it for some people. there isn't one movie in all of cinema history that doesn't have a few minutes of bad filmmaking from someone's point of view. close your eyes for 2 minutes and deal with it

I think the lack of hype and excitement about Revolutions has to do with a return to Earth for the reputation of this franchise post- Reloaded. To me, and a lot of other people, the original Matrix is the "Nevermind" by Nirvana of movies: a solid, competant work that has been outrageously overrated for some unknown reason. IMO, taking watered down ideas that PK Dick thought up in the sixties and seventies and William Gibson published in the early Eighties, adding some Hollywoodized Yeun Wo Ping wire-fu with guns and little sophomore philosophy major/"universe in my fingernail"/mystical Black people mumbo-jumbo does not a masterpiece make. Maybe more people came down off of their post-Matrix sugar high and realized this a load of hokey baloney after all.

I thought that the Matrix Reloaded was 2.5 out of 4 stars. I enjoyed the movie. Saw it twice in theaters. Haven't seen the DVD yet cuz I ordered it from Best Buy and the USPS lost it in the mail even though it has order tracking....punks never called me back either so I have to keep calling them.
Neways, on Monday at 7:30 PM, I went to get my tickets at the 32nd Street Loews in NYC and most shows were sold out. I ended up gettin' 5 tickets for the 10:30 PM show. I'm definitely pumped for this movie.

I enjoyed the first movie but felt it was overrated. The second movie wasn't very good at all. With the lack of expectations for the third installment I may just enjoy it. Personally I think they used all their best ideas in the first movie leaving us with nothing new to captivate us.

but the other poster is right. it's amazing how 1 or 2 sequcnes can destroy a film for some. no film is perfect except for maybe Citizen Kane, Casablanca, or Godfather I & II.

I didn't despise Reloaded, but I was really disappointed. They could've condensed that movie down to 45 minutes and it wouldn't have suffered. I think the hype for that film was overkill, as the movie couldn't live up to the hype. Maybe that's why they're downplaying it this time around. If Revolutions turns out to have as much filler as Reloaded, we may need something like the 'Phantom Edit' to make something decent out of it, but I'm hoping it's a more solid movie.

Put me in the group that liked Matrix Reloaded. It was not as good as the first movie, but I still found it entertaining. Entertainment is the main reason why I watch a movie.
I'm pumped for the Matrix Revolutions and will watch it tonight.

I'm pretty darn excited for Revolutions. I didn't have nearly the problems others did with Reloaded, and while yes, it does have its flaws, I still think it is one kick ass action movie. Of course, I never held the first Matrix in such high esteem, as that was just a kick ass action movie. But nonetheless...put me in the camp looking forward to seeing this. Hope it's good...if it's not, ROTK will save me!

You are right. All Nirvana did was change the face of Rock music for an entire decade with Nevermind. And based on every action movie I have seen since The Matrix, all it did was change the way action movies are done. There are literally dozens of movies since that have borrowed from the Matrix.
Both extremely overrated I guess.

Mystical Black people? What about all those "mystical white people" What are you talking about?
Anyways, how in the world does the rave scene bother people so much? It was five minutes long, and happened near the start of the film. I just don't get it.

I'm excited that Revolutions is coming out and I haven't been this pumped up for a movie in a while. I'm there opening day (due to school, I wont make it to the theaters till around 12-ish), but I honestly can't wait to see the film.

Oh, OK, there's only 9 reviews yet. Whew!
