The most walkouts I've seen were for Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses, but it was because I went on a weekend afternoon, and a lot of stupid ghetto trash came in dragging their spawn of 4 or 5 with them.
I don't know why the movie title didn't tip them off as to what they were getting... when the killing finally started, several families left the theater.
They left to the sounds of the rest of the audience heckling them and calling them f'ing morons for bringing their kids.

Anytime I am asked about the worst movies that I have ever seen, there are always two that come to mind immediately: Patch Adams, and Hanging Up. I would have gladly walked out on either of these, but my girlfriend chose both, so I had to sit through them.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas! Wife and I saw it opening night at Univeral Studios Hollywood. We got there right before it started and had to sit really close to the front. By the time it was over 60% of the audience was long gone. My wife fell asleep 15 minutes in, and I sat there not understanding why such a movie would have been made.
Jump forward to today! It is one of my wifes and my favorite DVDs.

i have zero sympathy for people who walk out of a movie in the theatre. basically, in order to walk out, you have to have done ZERO research about the movie to be that shocked that necessitates a walk out. its the same thing as people who ask their kid what video game they want, the kid inevitably says "grand theft auto 3", the parent buys it, and then is shocked that their kid is exposed to this kind of game. if you go to a movie without any kind of idea what to expect, you get what you deserve.

I like to watch a movie with no preconcieved notions, and researching a movie is the worst way to give yourself false expextations. Video games are different, because its a $50 investment, but if its $10, I'll go out on a limb and try it out, not knowing what to expect. Those are often the most rewarding experiences. If you know its going to be real good, and you watch it, and its merely good, you will be disappointed, whereas if you know nothing, "Freedom from want is freedom from pain", or something like that.
The last film I walked out on was big fat greek wedding. I saw it because I heard a good review...

The most walk-outs I ever saw was earlier this year from Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. The theater only had about a dozen or two dozen people in it, but I think my friends and I were nearly the only ones left only a half hour into it. I was shocked because I hadn't seen people walk out of worse movies, but I assumed most had been mislead by the advertising campaigns (which had featured minor characters like Julia Roberts prominently, and tried to frame the movie into every genre possible).

I'm in the never-walk-out and never-notice-people-walking-out camps. Exception for the second is people finally dragging their noisy kids out long after they should have.
Exception for the first should have been Bats with Lou Diamond Phillips. I usually like cheesy horror but I think in this case was a victim of raised expectations. Somebody told me it was based on a book I'd liked. Um, not.

Boogie Nights. People were expecting a good-timey John Travolta-style 70's wank fest and instead they got a porno director blowing his brains out, Roller Girl fighting some loser in a limousine, Dirk Diggler getting beat up when he was a male prostitute, a donut shop getting held up, the cocaine deal gone bad scene, are we having fun yet?
I loved the film but people were marching out in droves.

I saw alot of people walk out of KILL BILL on Friday night.
I also so alot of people walk out of the Rules of Attraction.
The only movie that I ever walked out of was Robocop 3. It was at the dollar theater so I didn't feel so bad. Man it sucked!

I love the Talented Mr. Ripley, but one reason that audiences may have been turned off is all the implied homosexuality. People go to see hunky Matt Damon and sexy Gwenyth Paltrow and they get all this latent gay stuff instead. But audiences are dumb

I should have when I went to see Underworld. I was underwhelmed.

Jackie Browne by far had the most in my experience. I would've also but I was with a group...haven't tried watching it again since then.
Hanging Up is another one I would've walked out on - but I, too, was with a girlfriend. It was our anniversary of some sort so she wanted to watch it. Needless to say it was our last anniversary together

My fiancee and I walked out of "Gosford Park" last year after about 15 minutes. Both of us thought it was horrible.
Then we snuck into the "Royal Tannenbaums" - I enjoyed it actually, she didn't - d'oh!

Beavis & Butthead do America
It sounded as if only one speaker was working and there must have been 10 pillows in front of it, I complained to some kid who worked at the theater. 10 minutes later, still no sound, so I go get a refund from the manager. Sad thing is, 4 kids were still there along with some old guy (!) tugging at his hearing aid.
Necessary Roughness
Saw it at the dollar theater with a buddy to kill some time before going bar hopping with more friends. After about 45 minutes, we figured sufficient time and brain cells had been killed.

I agree tho, I didn't like Gosford Park (the first hour felt like 4) and quite enjoyed Royal Tenenbaums, but it seems to be an acquired taste.

It's not too much to ask to know a LITTLE bit about the movie you are going to see.I hate being spoiled too, but seeing a preview is okay. And if I like the preview, chances are I'll like the movie.
The only movie that screwed that up was The Phantom Menace. I think the editor on that trailer should have won an Academy Award.

The one general thing I take away from this thread is that "great" films divide people as often as they unite them.
Not that that's news to any of you...I just think it's interesting and funny.
