I recently caught E.T. in a theater while in Indianapolis. I had not seen it in over 20 years and figured I would likely not get another chance to see it on the "big screen."

However, I believe the print that was shown was the 20th Anniversary Edition, which has some changes. I was aware that there were shots in which guns were digitally replaced with walkie talkies, but some of the close-up shots of E.T. looked to be CGI as well. Having not seen the original film in so long, I can't really recall what the puppet face looked like in action for comparison of these scenes. Does anyone know how extensive the CGI tinkering was? It looked fairly natural, but there was a point where my suspension of disbelief had to kick into a higher gear, knowing that practical creature effects would not have been as animated in 1982.

<b>Munchies</b> and sequel <b>Munchie</b> (yep, they sorta got the titling order backwards) beat all hell out of E.T.

But seriously, there are few Spielberg titles that don't hold up fantastically well. He's what we movie fans call 'pretty good.'
