Well, I just finished it. Excellent movie. I hadn't planned on staying up to watch the whole thing as I have to work early, but once I started, I couldn't stop it. Man, Vol. 2 can't come soon enough.
Thanks Quentin!!

It sort of reminded me of the opening credit sequence in Enter the Dragon. It had a 747 fly over HK.

Just saw the film and loved it (I gush about it in the main Kill Bill thread
)
One very obvious reference at the beginning: the old Shaw Brothers opening logo (and apparently, Kill Bill was filmed in Shawscope
). Great touch! Right away, Tarantino tells you his intentions with this film.
The cartoonish violence with literal geysers of blood spurting from hacked off limbs and stumps is a nod to the Kozure Okami (Lone Wolf and Cub) series of Japanese films, or at least to the Americanized edit of two of the films, released here as Shogun Assassin.
I'm sure that there were nods to specific yakuza eiga, but I'm not particularly well-versed in the classics of that film genre, so I couldn't spot any particular references.
I still have to wrap my head around this great film, so when any other references occur to me, I'll be back here.

Two references that weren't mentioned of Quentin giving reference to his own movies are when Uma talks about everything being square and draws it much like she does in Pulp Fiction and also the way in which Uma awakes from her coma is much the same way she awakens when given the adreneline shot in Pulp Fiction.

I forgot about Michael Parks.
Another reference to Tarantino's own films is having someone put in a car trunk (in this case, Sofie Fatale) and the "trunk cam" (shot from inside the trunk looking out). This occurs in all of his films as well as Dusk.

Yeah thats right, but I didn't spot any Teriyaki Donut or Big Kahuna Burger joints when Uma was in Japan (did anyone else catch sight of them?). Maybe, like Taco Bell, they don't have those restaurant chains in Japan.

That ad is seen at least three times in the film. What is the reference?

And yes Uma's feet were disturbing. What's the deal with her bent toes? Did someone drop an anvil on her feet as a kid?

Yes, there was alot of spaghetti western music going on (even during the anime).
One reference I don't really get is the "Ironside" theme musical sting whenever Uma first sees her old companions again. I'm not familar with the show (I've heard of it but never seen it) but is there any significance to this other than giving the film a 70's feel?
Also, some posters on the Mobius forum are mentioning giallo references. I don't have much exposure with these films (other than a few of Argento and Bava's classics). Does anyone have any examples of giallo references in Kill Bill?

Another reference, did anyone catch Vernita Green's new name? Jeanne Bell. Jeanne Bell is the name of the playmate/blaxpo queen who played TNT JACKSON

I know this is a stretch but Bruce Lee did a guest starring role on "Ironside". With all the Bruce Lee references in the film maybe there's one for "Longstreet", "Here Comes the Brides" and "Blondie". I haven't seen the film yet so I don't know why there is a reference to "Ironside".

OK. I have one that is way off the wall and is a spolier so...
Now I don't know if that was an actual reference or not but like I said it just looked similar to me.
And a couple that haven't been mentioned...
In the movie Go-Go Yubari also stabs some guy in the groin for making advances towards her. The same actress also plays a character in "Battle Royale" who kills a classmate who tries to rape her by stabbing him in the groin.
And also there is a quick shot of one of the Crazy 88's who's mouth get's sliced open sideways by Uma's sword. The resulting wound looks just like the same wound that the character Kakihara has in the film "Ichi The Killer"
Also a few of the actors are veterans of Takashi Miike films.
