Pixar Dumps Disney Deadweight

From today's IMDB Studio Briefing:
Warner Bros. has offered Pixar a deal that would allow Pixar to keep virtually all the profits from its films and pay Warner's a 10 percent distribution fee, the New York Post reported today, citing sources familiar with the situation. The newspaper observed that Warner's is not currently negotiating with Pixar, which has indicated that it would prefer to extend its partnership with Disney if a deal similar to the one offered by Warner's can be agreed upon.
This is almost exactly what Pixar has been asking for. This kind of offer HAS to be at least tempting to Steve Jobs...

Yeah, but it's Warner Bros. Hardly carries the same weight in animation at the combo of Disney/Pixar. Why do you think Pixar wants to continue with Disney? It's obvious if you think about it.
Warner Bros./Pixar just doesn't have the same ring.

Warners has all of Time Warner resources to market Pixar flicks: AOL, Kids WB, the WB network, DC Comics, Time Magazine, etc.. However, look at the bang-up job they did with Iron Giant and Cats Don't Dance, two great movies with lousy ad campaigns. Hell, they couldn't even get any interest in their crummy Quest for Camelot and The King and I animated films.
Disney/Pixar is a totally winning combination. I really hope they can continue.

Update: Looks like Pixar isn't all that eager to dump the Disney deadweight after all, since apparently they're in the final runup to signing a new contract. According to the deal under discussion Disney would give up some of their ownership rights for Cars and The Incredibles, in exchange for a higher distributor's fee. The story's all over the place, here's one source chosen more or less at random:

I don't see how Disney can sit back and let a competitor like Warner Bros. snap up Pixar so easy.
