Cold Creek Manor

Has anyone else seen the trailer for Cold Creek Manor? I just saw it when I saw S.W.A.T last week. It looks really creepy and good. It doesn't look like your typical thriller at all. It's got a little suspense to it and it looks like it makes you think. The cast was pretty good--Dennis Quaid, Sharon Stone, and Juliette Lewis. Not bad. The trailer got me interested. I'll probably go see it when it comes out. What do you guys think?

Looks a lot like 'The Amityville Horror' with more mainstream actors - or so I think.

I'll check it out on DVD, but I won't go out of my way to see it.

It looks alright, but I generally don't see horror films in the theatre. Plus I'm not a big Sharon Stone fan. I might give it a rent when it comes out, or just check it out on cable.

It's caught my attention - and unless it gets incredibly bad reviews and/or word of mouth, I'll go see it.

This looked good until I saw that Sharon Stone was in it.

Everytime I see her I want to put the smackdown on her like Arnold did in Total Recall.

I'll see it, too. I'd rather see a thriller in the theater than at home, especially if it's in the first couple of weeks of release.

i saw the trailer on Apple's site. It looks good, but like someone else said it reminds me of amityville horror. I really like Denis Quaid so I'm sure I'll end up seeing it

An Australian indie rocker. I've only heard one of his albums, during my college radio days, so if hime is making a reference to a song of his, I'm missing it. He's not involved with the movie, though, as far as I can tell.

I could swear he was supposed to be in it.

He's put out his 4th solo album recently, and he was also in Noise Addict (well, he basically WAS Noise Addict). Brilliant popstar who's been led astray. Oh yeah, and he dates Claire Danes.

Checking IMDB, he is actually the lead in "The Rage in Placid Lake". My bad. Aren't there like two "creek" movies out soon? All these geographical names must be getting me confuzzled.

My roommate saw an advance screening and said it was total crap - fwiw - I'm probably gonna wait now cuz he said it sucked... but he's been wrong before (IMO). He's more of an "every man" than I am and my opinions tend to go against the mainstream on movies while his tend to go with the crowd.

Ditto.

I would pay to see this movie if it showed her getting eaten by a Komodo Dragon. That would be funny!

I thought the trailer was pretty intense (in the sense of Stir of Echoes and The Others).

Too bad it's getting such terrible reviews. I think I'll pass.

not surprised by the bad reviews...I may check it out eventually...but Mike Figgis trying to do a mainstream flick...I didn't see that working too well.

Figgis is one of my favorite directors and I was shocked this morning when reading the salon.com interview that it was his new project....Sometimes the mainstream comes to the otherside sometimes.

Yeah, out of principle, I'll never see this or Bulletproof Monk for the very same reason.

WARNING!

Do NOT see this movie if you're buying into the horror/supernatural thriller aspects. The trailer is VERY misleading, and the movie is so boring.

CM and I just got back from it and we are f**king pissed.

I was popping in here to say the exact same thing. That trailer is definitely one of the sneakiest bits of marketing sleight-of-hand I've seen in quite some time. They do a great job of making it seem like a supernatural thriller in the vein of The Others or What Lies Beneath, when it's basically just a (minor possible spoiler about the nature of the plot here)
Spoiler:
psycho torments the family thriller along the lines of Cape Fear or even Fear (with Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon.
And a routine one at that... everything that happens has been seen dozens of times in these types of movies. Mike Figgis does a decent job of playing with these familiar elements, but the generic story combined with the blatantly deceptive ads left me disappointed.

I dug it up until the last 10 minutes which was pure ridiculousness.

Up until then it was a nicely played psychological thriller.
The undercurrents of sexual tension and vulnerability of dennis quaid's character made it really interesting.

Dorff, Like in the first blade, makes a great villain.

Grade: B

Would have been higher if that ending wasn't so, let's say, dumb.
