The Client (running fast in his business suit)
Far & Away (running fast in the snow)
Minority Report (running fast throughout the movie)
Jerry Maguire (sprinting to go home to Renee)
Vanilla Sky (running down empty streets)
Days of Thunder (racing Robert Duvall at end)
Mission Impossible (running out of breaking aquarium)
Interview with Vampire (running so fast we can't even see him)
Last Samurai (apparently running with his troops in the picture I saw)

quite a bit of running in The Firm too.

Cruise even runs in Born on the Fourth of July (at the beginning of the film, obviously).

As a big Tom Cruise fan, I'm really looking forward to seeing The Last Samurai. Cruise has been doing great stuff especially the last four years, so hopefully my expectations will not be let down
Well, if you're referring to the gripping portrayals he gave in Minority Report, Vanilla Sky and Eyes Wide Shut, I doubt you'll be disappointed. He's been doing a lot of that constipated "I'm acting SO hard" face lately, so expect more of the same. I think he should stick to the Mission: Impossible movies and give up on getting that Oscar. If he didn't get it for Born on the Fourth of July, Rain Man, Jerry Maguire or Magnolia, it ain't happening any time soon. Hey Harrison Ford has never one an Oscar either and I respect him. Stop TRYING so hard!

Looks good, but every time I've seen the trailer, the audience would laugh as soon as it first showed Cruise, and would crack jokes about it. Last time I saw it a group of older Asians were sitting in front of me(looked 40+), and even they kept laughing and saying something about it(I couldn't understand it obviously).

Who in the world would think Cruise is actually a samurai? I know nothing about the story but figured as much...

I don't think the movie is by "Beat" Takeshi, I think he only stars in it & it's a remake of the famous Zatoichi franchise.
No, it's by Kitano.

Hmm, they've shown the trailer for the Last Samurai everytime I've been to the theaters here in Japan, in the last couple months. Japanese being Japanese, there really wasn't an audible reaction, but I kind of looked around and everyone looked pretty interested and definitely NOT mocking.

Based on the trailer, I personally think I'll like the movie. The Japanese in there is also authentic i.e. real Japanese doing the dialogue and not some stand-in Korean or Chinese guy struggling with the accent. Of course, this is just based on the trailer. It could be a whole new ballgame once the movie is seen in its entirety.

Looks really interesting. Never heard anyone laughing in my theater, although maybe they were intelligent to notice that he was wearing a military uniform in the first half of the trailer.

I'm actually looking forward to this one almost as much as I was looking forward to Fight Club (about a year before it was released).

Like someone else said, I am a fan of everything samurai. It is interesting, however, that the people who had negative things flocked to this thread, and replied first to say replied first.

It looks great! I can't wait, it is directed by the guy who did Glory, one of the best war movies ever made.

Yup, my wife is Japanese and she wants to see it. But personally, I'm much more interested in seeing the Kitano Zatoichi film.

It's a good thing public pressure and opinion are like water off a duck's back for you.

I think the film looks incredible. I have seen the trailer several times and not once has it been "mocked". Methinks maybe we have a few tall tales here.

Or perhaps the "mockers" are disappointed that such a "kewl" idea is missing the Michael Bay or Vin Diesel ingredient.
