Fuck you Fox, fuck you Ridley Scott. There was no guarantee this movie would be good, but there's virtually every guarantee that any Prometheus sequel will suck more balls than the world record ball sucker. Scott clearly has no idea what makes this series work anymore. Fucking fuck. Assholes.

Alien III went through about fifty scripts even though Cameron left the thing wide open for sequels; Resurrection didn't stand a chance after the way 3 ended; the two AvP movies felt like Fox told everyone to make the shittiest movies they could even though the first AvP comic from Dark Horse would have made an awesome movie; and Prometheus was a bunch of ancient aliens woo that made the space jockey suck.

Nobody had a fucking clue what to do with the Alien franchise after Aliens.

For some reason I feel that Blomkamp would make a refreshing alien movie. To me District 9 was so freaking amazing in the design and action department that I don't see how Blomkamp would fuck up an Alien movie.

Oh. It's easy to fuck up a movie. I liked Elysium for it's production and Visuals. I tolerated Chappie. I can see him fucking up Alien. They're pretty much letting him run w/o anyone stopping him. I think they're kind of letting him do the same thing w/ Alien. Which is kind of scary but maybe he's the right guy for this cuz maybe he'll hit his quality side w/ this? I dunno.

District 9 may have been great, but it's clear this filmmaker is not to be trusted with a major sci-fi franchise just yet. D9 was a fluke.

District 9 was great, Elysium sucked, and Chappie was okay. He's got his bases covered.

Typically, that isn't a good thing. D9 was a fluke, I think. The guy as a good eye for CGI integration on a budget and good visuals but I think he gets too into his project that he can't see the issues. Too in love w/ his material that he can't look at it objectively.

I'm fine with more Prometheus as long as they have a decent script - Scott doing alien imagery is a win in my even if you have to watch it on mute. The only Blomkamp movie I remotely enjoyed was Elysium, which wasn't a good movie but it didn't put me to sleep like D9 or make me want to break things like Chappy. I tried to be one of the herd on D9, it has some cool elements, but man is that a boring flick.

I love D9. Thought it was great. Culturally exotic in visual, kind of original as a concept while also harking back to cool stuff, cool action, etc.

Re: Alien 5 (D: Blomkamp) S: Weaver
Biehn was asked about what the film is/was supposed to be:
"They’re planning on bringing me and Newt back and at this point Newt will be around twenty-seven years old. I know that every actress in Hollywood is going to want to play this one, it’s really a passing of the torch between Sigourney and this younger actress who would play Newt. It would keep the franchise alive and the studios would make money, because that’s what the bottom line is now: money. That’s why you end up seeing 'Terminator' 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 'The Fast And Furious' 7, 8, 9, and 10."

so then his disdain will clearly keep him from signing on then?

Well remember, Fox tried to screw Biehn on Alien3 by using his likeness without paying for it. He had to threaten a lawsuit before they ponied up the money. I don't blame him for being jaded about the series.

Ridley Scott is the reason we can't have nice things. Okay, that might be exaggerating a bit, but had things gone differently, Neill Blomkamp would already be in production on his "Alien" movie starring Sigourney Weaver, which had initially been planned for release in 2017. But then Scott stepped in, and demanded that his "Alien: Covenant" arrive first, before Blomkamp gets underway on his movie, which will take place after "Aliens," but is said to ignore the other sequels. And though it's been a while since we've heard anything about Blomkamp's movie, it seems it's still in the cards.
Weaver recently stopped by an event for VMware, and was asked about the status of Blomkamp's film.
"Well, I think it is. Ridley asked Neill not to make our Alien 'til after 'Prometheus 2.' [Ridley] wanted his movie to shoot and be released first. But it’s an amazing script, and Neill and I are really excited about doing it," she said. "We’re doing other things until we can get going on that. I’d be really surprised if we didn't do it, because it’s such a great script, and we love working together. So, it’s just going to take a little bit longer to get out to you, but it’ll be worth the wait."
Keep hope alive, and remember, Scott did confirm last fall that Blomkamp's movie will roll after 'Covenant.'
“I’m producing [Blomkamp’s movie]. It’s designed to go next after ['Alien: Covenant'],” the director said in October. [“His version] is more associated with Ripley. It’s coming from a completely different angle. It’s kind of more of a sequel… after, after after. I’m coming at it from the back end.”
