My fiance just watched her first horror flick!!!!

Well, for those of you who may remember, my fiance is NOT a horror fan of any kind. They actually do scare her and she can't handle any gore. She often times has nightmares if something frightens her. Well, this weekend she wanted to give it another shot. She had seen some of the movie Scream on tv (turned it off due to not being able to handle it) and it really scared her as it's not one of those out of this world alien killers, but an average every day Joe kind of characters. She can actually handle movies like Aliens and Pitch Black due to the bad guy being aliens and not actual people.

Any way, we ended up watching Scream (since she had already seen some of it) and she did GREAT. She turned her head away for just about every death scene as she gets major willies from seeing gore. The only one she actually saw was the one of the tv reporter dude getting his neck sliced when Sidney ran into the truck. She cringed pretty good. Anyway, she admitted that, apart from the gore, she enjoyed the movie.

I'm trying to convince her to watch the other ones, but she says that since she had already seen Scream on tv, she knew what to look for. It was only the last 20 or so minutes that she hadn't seen.

Anyway, I just wanted to report the good news of a possible turn-around for my girl!!!

Little does she know that she'll soon be starring in a horror flick of her own: your wedding night!

While I don't consider Scream much of a victory in terms of horror movie selling, just finding a girl willing to watch them is an accomplishment IMO. Congrats!

When are you getting married? If it's anywhere near August 15th, then you need to make sure you take in Freddy vs. Jason on the honeymoon!

My wife and I watched Ichi The Killer a few weeks back (one of the goriest, most violent films, ever) and she didn't bat an eye. I love low-maintenance women.

Now you have my blessing to marry her.

Just get her to watch the good horror films from the 70s and 80s.

Ichi was hillarious and actually a better movie than I anticipated. That said, none of the gore in that movie 'disturbed' me at all.. Neither did Audition... But for some reason - the last few parts of May had me twitch the first time I saw it. Just a heads up, check it out not a great movie, but oddly memorable at times.

Well if she thought Scream was ' too gory',i weep for the future.

Show her Dawn of the Dead or Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight as a example of what REAL gore is all about!

Granted Scream is a good movie. Yet gory, umm no. Sure it has some blood. Yet it's pretty tame compared to much more gruesome & better horror films that are all about the horror.

What does she think of horror movies that have little to no gore like The Ring, The Others, The Sixth Sense, The Changeling, The Omen, JoyRide, Session 9, The Shining, etc...? They are the type I'd show somebody that has no experience with the genre.

Out of that list she's seen and liked The Ring, The Others, The Sixth Sense, and Joyride. The only one she wasn't crazy about was The Shining. The others she hasn't seen. Other than The Shining I consider the ones she's seen more like thrillers than horror.
