Gremlins 3

This is from www.darkhorizons.com

Joe Dante has apparently been contacted about doing a new "Gremlins" movie. It's come up a few times and the main reason he's not jumping on is becuase the studio want it to be CGI - Dante would rather ol fashion; animatronic etc - as I'm sure we all would. I'm sure they'll do it anyway [it's happened before - hello T3?] Cute little Gizmo dolls in stores again".

Great news in my opinion. I loved both Gremlin movies. I hope this one gets made. Ah, 80's nostalgia rules!

Thank God someone has the decency to turn down CGI.

It'll be fun seeing how this one turns out.

Joe Dante = Class Act.

Not everything has to be friggin' CGI. I'm glad he's willing to go "old school".

I think it'd be cool to see this, although a lot of time has passed. "Small Soldiers" was a lot like "Gremlins" with toys instead of furry animals, and I liked that. I love the first one, and the sequel is fun.

More importantly, will Phoebe Cates be back?

More importantly will Judge Reinhold be back?!

I hope Dante goes with his idea from a few years back:
Gremlins Go Las Vegas
THAT would be a fun movie to watch!

That's what I liked about The Italian Job, the director didn't want CGI'ed cars in his scenes, so he took the extra effort to do it all with the real things. In fact, according to EW, the only scene with CGI was the one involving the helicopter in the underpass... not everything needs to be CG.

Next you know they'll want the Muppets to be CG...

Muppets in CGI -- what a great idea! I love this! Because, as everyone knows, Kermit the Frog looks nothing like a frog.

first of all I would like to say this is wonderful news (assuming it gets made)

secondly that I don't mind CGI, use your imagination, in my opinion animatronics look just as fake, I feel bad for people that let some aspect of the effects ruin a movie for them, I thought the action scenes in the Hulk were really cool, if you guys had your way half of those shots would never have made it to screen

In the short list of sequels that were better than the original, we have Gremlins II, a film that was far, far better than it's pedestrian progenitor.

If the third film continues the exponential swing up started by second film, I expect Gremlins III to become a classic along the lines of Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind and The Sure Thing.

Re: Gremlins 3

'Gremlins' Remake To Be In 3D!!!
I know what your going to say: SHOCK!!!
Director Joe Dante confirmed that a new "Gremlins" movie was in the works and that it will be a remake of the original. MarketSaw has now chimed in to say the remake will also be 3D.

The deceison came after Dante's 'The Hole' was filmed succesfully in 3D and received good reviews.

With the recent success of 'AVATAR' you guys can bet your sisters flower that almost every successful 80's movie and any new proprty will include a version to be released in 3D. So if your tired of hearing the 3D news, too bad for you. Leave your issues with your tissues cuz 3D is hear to stay. Hey, if you dont like it? Blame James Cameron.

I liked the original 'Gremlins', who didnt? But leave the gimmicks out and please focus on a decent movie.

Why can't they come up with a new story instead of doing a remake of a perfectly good film?

O.K., so Dante confirms a remake is in the works. But is he involved? And why a remake!??

Re: Gremlins 3

Honestly, I'd be down for a "reboot" if they tied it into the events of the first two.

However, I don't run a studio.

In that case, if Dante is on board as director, I'm interested. If he has no involvement, pass.
