Fucking lame, I wish he had stuck with the Vegas idea. Personally, I can't wait to see 3D die off.

Sorry, but no matter how much you hype it, nobody wants to see "3 D" replaced with "Eric D" -- especially when you keep inviting us to a premiere of the format "in my pants".

Re: Gremlins 3

Damn. Was just about to write "how long till they nix the part 3 idea and go with a reboot?" Scrolling down a little further showed me that it's already happened. So now, I ask, how long till the origins story, tracing the beginnings of the gremlins evolution back in the ice ages. They could make it a tie-in sequel with "Year 1". I'm available to produce.

But the scene we all want to see in 3D was in Fast Times, not Gremlins.

Man, this thing goes on forever. I didn't even bother watching "the making of" video.

Re: Gremlins 3

I would rather see a contination than a total reboot. Do studios think that people don't watch movies that are twenty years old?

Dark Horizons is saying it's not a reboot as reported, but a new story. I'd be all for that. They would never do this but a WW2 story with Mr. Futterman would be cool...

Billy would be, what, 48 or so now? Maybe he'll give Gizmo to his kids? Or grandchildren?

Re: Gremlins 3

Here’s a late snack after midnight that will turn you into an angry little creature.

Bloody Disgusting has exclusively learned that Warner Bros. is officially moving ahead with a remake of Amblin’s 1984 Gremlins, instead of the long gestured sequel.

While a hunt is on for a director, Seth Grahame-Smith has been tapped to produce alongside David Katzenberg. Smith wrote Dark Shadows for Tim Burton, and recently completed his draft for the studio’s next Beetlejuice. He also penned Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter for Fox.

The original holiday classic was directed by Joe Dante and followed a boy, played by Zach Galligan, who inadvertently breaks 3 important rules concerning his new pet Mogwai and unleashes a horde of malevolent mischievous monsters on a small town.

No word if Smith will also write this new take on the Steven Spielberg-produced Gremlins.

Crap... CG Gizmo and Stripe. I know it's said of every remake, but why won't they leave it the fuck alone.

Re: Gremlins 3

I thought Spielberg had to approve this before it moves forward. Anyway I hope they keep the practical effects, and use CGI only if necessary.

Re: Gremlins 3

Warner hiring producers (and a possible writer) must mean they're planning on pitching the concept to Speilberg. If Spielberg likes it and says yes, pre-production would begin immediately.

However, Seth Grahame-Smith is a fucking hack.

Dear God!

How do writers like this continue getting work in Hollywood and why do they use their terrible résumés as some sort of selling point as if that will get the public excited for this shit?!

Re: Gremlins 3

We actually spoke to Dante this week out of Venice about “Burying The Ex.” We’ll be running that full interview soon, but we also spoke to him about his “Gremlins” legacy and his involvement in the mooted reboot. As it turns out, he doesn’t have anything to do with that movie, but he did confirm that development is in the works.

“I am not involved with it,” Dante said about the project. “It's something that we hear about every six months for the past five to ten years. I know there have been many attempts to do it. It's tricky because the rights are jointly owned by Warner Bros and [Steven Spielberg’s] Amblin, so you've got to jump through two hurdles to get your idea approved. “

Dante said “Gremlins” reboots or sequels have been attempted over the years, but obviously none of them have stuck. “I know a lot of very well known people have come up with ideas for another ‘Gremlins’ movie and not of them have gone. I do know, however, that there's a script being written now and the tricky thing is that I'm not sure that the people making the movie now understand what the original appeal was of the first movie, which was not beloved by the studio until it started making money.”

“When they started making a sequel, they didn't understand what we had done on the original to make it successful,” he remarked. “So they hired me to come back and make the sequel. Because nobody understood it. So it will be very interesting to see what they come up with.”

Disappointing but not surprising news.

How long before the article announcing the Gremlins are being redesigned and will be 6 feet tall ... and will speak English ... and know kung-fu?

I'm not talking about a Gremlin ... I'm talking about ALL of the Gremlins.
