Yea but run more effectively

Note: The idea of President Clamp and gremlins in congress was thought up by Red Letter Media and probably others but that’s where I first heard it.

Clamp was a thinly veiled Donald Trump so might as well.

I introduced my 10 year old son to the two Gremlins movies within the last 6 months or so and he absolutely loved them. They jumped to his favorite movies list. He asked for Gremlins toys for Christmas and his birthday and I was surprised at how much Gremlins merchandise is out there considering the last movie was over 30 years ago.

Keep the Gremlins as puppets and I’d be down for a third one.

I always thought of him more as an amalgamation of Trump and Ted Turner.

Hope Dante is back if this actually happens.

His directorial output since Looney Tunes Back in Action (2003) is NOT great, though he's done some episodes of CBS procedurals.

Very true. Since I’m a completionist, all those turds are in my collection. They don’t get rewatched much.

Have you shown him the new Gremlins cartoons? My kids liked them.

Warner Bros. just scheduled a release date: November 19, 2027. Chris Columbus co-writing and directing.

Sucks there's no mention of Dante being involved. I assume Zach Galligan returning is a given. Just saw him at a horror convention a couple weeks ago and he looked great. Too bad there's probably not a snowball's chance in hell getting Phoebe Cates to sign on.

Would love to see the President Clamp idea actually happen (perfect timing for it), but I suspect this will distance itself from the meta/screwball stuff from The New Batch and go back to basics - especially with Columbus at the helm.

No Dante is a huge handicap to a Gremlins 3. Don't know how involved he'd want to be but he still cohosts a movie podcast I occasionally listen to so it's not like he's senile.

With Chris Columbus writing & directing, I immediately lost any interest

I'm sure it'll be as good as the last couple of Ghostbusters, Trons or Indiana Jones.

Why not Joe Dante?

Its been rumored forever but I do hope they use practical effects the majority of the movie.

Not a chance. Maybe 1-2 main Gremlins and Gizmo, but that many puppets is too complicated and cost prohibitive. It'll be mostly CG.

I also doubt it'll actually happen. It's been rumored (development hell?) for decades.

I'm in! I don't expect it to have the edginess of the first film, but a feel good legacy sequel endcap sounds good to me. Would be nice to have Dante involved in some creative capacity, but we'll see.

24 years in development hell.

Is that some kind of record?

I tried to find out, but all I came up with is that the film with the longest production time was The Other Side of the Wind, with a period of 48 years between principal photography in 1970 (to 1976) and subsequent post-production/release in 2018.
