I thought, not illogically, that this was going to carry on 28 days after she left the treatment center and focus on the problems of a recovering alcoholic dealing with the real world.
Now that's scary.

That is what I thought too.

Sounds a lot like George Romero's The Crazies .

I can't wait!

28 Days Later, saw it last night, opens 6.27.03 (NO SPOILERS)

I saw this film last night and I highly recommend you see this in the theater because it is one of the scariest movies I have seen in a while. Scary, scary, scary stuff. I don't think this movie would have the same impact if I had watched it at home, definately worth a late-night showing on opening weekend.

Thanks for the info. I've been on the fence about this one, but now I'm getting kind of stoked to see it.

Honk!

I agree with mdc3000, the trailer looked like crap but I was still planning on seeing the movie. Glad to see that someone liked it, I might have to check it out.

It's really nice to see some of the new horror films being scary lately which is what the real horror films should be like.

With new scary movies like "Frailty" and "The Ring", "28 Days Later" sounds much scarier.

I really enjoy watching zombie movies, since this movie is a zombie movie like you never seen before, I'm sure it's a hell of a lot different than the George A. Romero flicks.

I'm definitely going to see "28 Days Later" for sure. Everytime I see the trailer for this movie, the more I want to see it.

That's true about the R2 release but I am telling you that there will be a major difference between seeing this in theater and seeing it at home. Do yourself a favor, either watch this late at night with no lights on or go see it in the theater.

As for the trailer, it does this movie no justice. The reason being is actually a good one, the trailer doesn't spoil anything about the movie. IF this leads to a bad trailer, so be it, I'm tired of trailers ruining a movie just to get more people into the theater.

If you were anywhere near the fence in regards to this movie or like horror movies in general, go see it, you won't be disappointed.

Let me put it another way, this is what Resident Evil should have been.

Jesus, I feel like an idiot. I just read the your review and finally realized this movie isn't the sequel to the Sandra Bullock movie "28 Days".

Sounds like it's going to be pretty good though!

The quality of the movie really didn't impress me in the trailer -- WAY too "lo-tech arty" for my liking, poor lighting and awful cinematography -- just wondering, does the movie itself look like that or is it just the trailer? Either way, I have to admit the trailer didn't make me want to see this AT ALL but my mind is still open...

Trust me, I'm seeing this in a theater.

(Hey, if it's free, I'd be a fool not to)

Oh, and about the trailer quality - it's a film image from a digital film master. Looks hellish to me, but I'm sure the film will rise above.

I wasn't interested before, because I thought it was the sequel to this movie or something:

28 Days Later... she checks herself back into rehab.

Then I just watched the trailer - so it's on my must-see list for this summer.

It's on your must see after the trailer???
That has to be one of the worst trailers ever! I want to see it because I know the premise and think it could work given what I've seen in the trailer. But if I had only see the trailer, this would go next to Daddy Day Care on my "why bother this summer list"

i'm gonna have to strongly disagree with you, neiname.

i was very disappointed when i saw it. and even more so with the comment that this is what resident evil should of been. you have played resident evil right? well maybe i'm too stuck into romero's idea that RE would be like Aliens except with zombies. i can't recall any of the "heroes" having any guns, let alone any military training. they were just completely average people.

anyway, the movie wasn't bad. it was decent, but still nothing rave about. i was disappointed so much in it becuase i had been expecting a zombie movie. a kind of romero zombie movie. while there is some commentary on society, the slow moving decaying zombies are nowhere to be found in 28. infact the zombies aren't even dead. and i don't see how this movie was scary. of course there was some, looks clear, oh wait there's a zombie, shock stuff. but beyond that, i'm not following you. and i would think any horror movie would be improved by watching at night and alone.

think of this movie more as a life after the end of the world, ala the stand, than a zombie movie.

to sum up; decent movie, bad zombie movie.

Yeah, well - I get the basic idea of what the film is about from the trailer and the subject matter is really appealing to me. Reminds me of Omega Man. I don't judge a movie's quality based on the trailer like most people do.

Venom - I personally liked Resident Evil. I also think Romero is completely overrated. He hasn't done a decent movie in 15 years and he hasn't done a decent zombie movie in 25 years. I don't know why everyone thinks he's so great. Even his 70's zombie movies were pure schlock low-budget crap movies that appealed to the love of B-movies. I liked some of his films, but every time someone brings up Romero like he's some sort of director god, it starts to trigger my gag reflex.

Besides... how hard is it to do a zombie movie? You get a bunch of extras and glue some rubber skin to their face and tell them to pretend to sleepwalk and to moan "bwaaaains" and then you get your actors and tell them to be scared. Wow... that's tough.

I'm not a super romero fan, and agree he hasn't made a good movie in quite some time. but he did night of the living dead, dawn of the dead and day of the dead, which have pretty much set the bar for zombie movies, esp the first two. and of course, these are still horror films and should be low-budget schlock. that is part of the appeal. i didn't like RE, i didn't mind that it greatly distorted the premise of the game, regardless of the what it was based on, it lacked alot. now, i can't if romero's RE would of been way better, but i think it might of been. atleast his original idea of a swat team versus zombies, in a aliens way.

it's not hard to do zombie movie, not hard at all. infact anyone could do it really. but to make a zombie movie that people will like and remember isn't so easy to do. take nearly any zombie movie from itatly, only a select few are decent to good.

adon't get me wrong, i'm not saying 28 days later is like RE the actual movie, or that it is like how romero wanted to do it. it is neither.

Venom - I'd like to address some of that, but I don't want to take this thread too far off topic... I made a George thread here: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=291592

Ok, my comment that RE should have been like this was misplaced, because I have played the games and would agree neither the current RE movie or 28 days later match the quality of the suspense and horror of the games. What I can correlate it with is I did find 28 days later a scary film and the RE movie was not. I understand your point about the first rule of a zombie movie (btw please delete the last sentence of your second to last paragraph as that is a partial spoiler) and I would agree that this probably shouldn't be considered a zombie movie in the same vein as a Romero zombie movie.

I'd consider it a good trailer as it doesn't give the entire movie away unlike many we're used to....

I don't really see what's wrong with the trailer either... there's some sort of outbreak or radiation or something... everyone dies... he's alone in a city... or is he?... muahahahaha. I get it. That trailer works for me. God, you people get so hung up on how trailers are. sheesh. You spend a year making a movie that's two hours long with the help of hundreds of other skilled people and then try to condense it into a minute or 30 seconds and see if it comes out good.
