Wow! I'm a big fan of the old WWII secret mission movies, like The Guns of Navarone and Where Eagles Dare, and I'm a big fan of Tarantino's movies too, so this will be a must-see for me.

Exclusive: Madsen lets slip Inglorious Bastards casting Always one of the nicest men to run into, we caught up with Michael Madsen this evening at the premiere of Sin City in London (full report soon) and he gave us a bit of a status update on his next Tarantino collaboration, Inglorious Bastards.

Back in March we exclusively broke the news that the film would be in two parts, thanks to Michael, and now he's read the script he was able to tell us a little more about the project.

"Quentin's written it now," he told FilmFocus, "but we've not started shooting yet. I've read it and you know the Dirty Dozen? It's a bit like that."

But while Madsen was remaining tight-lipped on his role in the film, he did drop a few casting hints. Adam Sandler and Bo Svenson have been attached to the film at various points, and while Svenson wasn't on the list Madsen gave us, a couple of other interesting names are. "It's going to be myself and Tim Roth," Madsen told us most assuredly, "Adam Sandler and Eddie Murphy are in it too."

Roth has, of course, worked with Tarantino before on Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, but Sandler and Murphy will both be new additions to Tarantino acting circle and, as with all things Quentin, they seem to be inspired choices.

So there you have it - we've heard all manner of names attached to the project, or projects if you think of it in its two-volume entirety, which Madsen told us is definitely going before the cameras later in the year. That is, provided dear ol' Quentin doesn't get distracted in the mean time.

Talking to us back in March, Madsen said of working with Tarantino, "when you work with the guy, you come off the set at the end of the day and you know you're going to come out with something worthwhile and something worth looking at. You know you're not going to have some piece of shit that you're not going to be able to live with."

We'll keep you up to date on all things Inglorious Bastards as we have done over the last few months, as and when we can. I think it's safe to say that when it comes to Quentin Tarantino, we're always keen to find out more.

This is going to be insanity. Finally Eddie will have his true comeback movie.

What's the latest on this? I know Grind House is coming out shortly, is IB still being made?

it been "being made" for so long no one really knows... i'm sure if and when Tarantino wants to do it, it will get done. Plenty of people willing to give him what he needs to make it.

That's a terrible cast! Those actors are all too old to be WWII soldiers! The age limit for enlistment was early 30's, and these actors (especially Stallone and Madsen) look like they waved goodbye to their 30's about ten years ago.

Well, those are all better actors than Sandler IMHO, and only maybe Travolta stood out as someone that didn't seem right for the role beforehand. I hope that Tarantino has a reason for making such an odd choice here, as it seems stranger to me than casting Travolta as a hitman.

I think Sandler would be great with tarantino, but this is coming from a sandler fan. I thought he did some really nice dramatic stuff in Punch Drunk Love and Spanglish.

Sandler can be great - given the right material, that is. He was kind of weird in "Punch-Drunk Love," and forget about "Spanglish."

Like Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler has that sympathtic, sincere look in his eye, but if he can have a script that has him acting and reacting like a normal human being instead of, well, instead of typical Adam Sandler, then I think he can be a real A-List Actor with many good performances in him.

And whoever above said that casting Travolta as a "hitman" was an odd choice didn't really appreciate his performance as Vincent Vega.

Oh I appreciated it when I saw it; it's just that before it was out, it would have seemed odd to cast him in that role (as I now think it seems odd for Sandler to be in this kind of movie). Punch-Drunk Love was good, but I'm still a bit skeptical. I haven't seen Spanglish though.

The Willis casting is perfect. I can sort of envision him as a Sgt. Rock-type, like artist Kubert was drawing years ago, with helmet askew, cigar clenched between teeth and a four-day old stubble.

But Sandler? Blech.

Has anyone turned in a shitty performance in a tarantinto film? I cant think of anyone.

I know his performance was touted as a career-saver, but I did not like Carradine AT ALL in Kill Bill. Can't decide if his performance was bad or if he was just poorly cast.

Is this just a straight remake of Dirty Dozen? I'd prefer to see him take on Where Eagles Dare, my favorite of this type of movie (and apparently, one of Taratino's favorites...).

I agree with you. Warren Beatty was origianlly cast as Bill, but backed out.

Tarantino Mulls "Bastards" On The Road

Quentin Tarantino's "Inglorious Bastards" looks to "probably be the very next thing I do" said the "Grindhouse" director to Slash Film at a junket earlier this week.

"Robert will probably be doing Sin City 2 coming up fairly shortly. I am going to kind of go on the road with this, around the earth here. I haven't really done it in a big way in a long time where you spend six months doing it. But I also like writing on the road, it's a really good time to do that so I will probably finish up 'Inglorious Bastards' while I am promoting 'Grindhouse'" says Tarantino.

Set in World War II, the story revolves around a group of soldiers on their way to be executed, when they get the chance of a reprieve. Tarantino's 600-page script will likely be released as two to three parts of a single movie.

The likes of Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Paul Walker, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, Johnny Depp, John Travolta, Harvey Keitel, Fred Williamson, John Jarratt, Mickey Rourke and Christopher Walken have all been rumoured for the project.

Looking at the cast list and the 600 page script (to be released as THREE movies?) and it's kind of hard not to think this might be a big disaster. Ego clashes, runaway budgets, production delays...

And, despite the apparent movement on it, it still sort has that vaporware odor coming off of it.

I agree, this is seriously annoying vaporware. What makes it particularly irritating is that Tarantino himself keeps the rumor alive. I heard Tarantino on an Opie and Anthony re-broadcast (from last month) saying that he's still working on the IG script. Add the old Madsen leak and it's enough to make anyone interested. It's such a tease but I still think this is a great type of movie form Tarantino to take on.

Having said that, given the total flop of Grindhouse, is anyone going to trust him with a big budget?
