No.
When he makes a movie about a former child soldier from the Congo or a teenage refugee from the Gaza Strip who is relocated to the U.S., becomes a tennis champ and a high school valedictorian and eventually goes back home to build a school in his village, with a theme song by some currently trendy proponent of "world music," THEN he'll get an Oscar. Last I checked, though, that wasn't on his list of films.

After listening to the torrent of the unofficial soundtrack release, I gotta say that Slaughter will probably be one of the best songs to be used in a Tarantino film.

Slightly different from the previous one I posted...more of Mike Myers in it.

Maybe it's just me, but watching that international trailer all I can think of is Top Secret.
And I know it's just me on this one, especially at this forum, but this movie just looks awful. Pitt just ruins this film for me, that accent is beyond attrocious.

French trailer...still cool looking. I don't know if I like the song used through out the trailer or not..but..it's funny. Love the ending.

You're not alone. Something seems 'off' about this film. Pitt seems miscast and in way over his head. He's a servicable actor at best, but he just doesn't seem at all right for this material.

That's good to hear. It seems like Tarantino can do no wrong here, people are fanatical for him, this movie could be 2 hours of Pitt crapping into a bucket & people would still rave about it. And I've seen countless posts of people saying what a great actor Pitt is, it always blows my mind. He is all looks & media hype, there is no charisma or screen presence. He always reminds me of a someone taking acting classes in college, trying to play different characters, and in their own head, they are brilliantly morphing into this roles, but in reality they are completely missing the mark. Like those people that go on American Idol & are horrific, but they just have no clue how bad they are & are shocked by the criticism. That's Brad Pitt's acting.

Have you seen The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford? That was a well acted film. Of course his cool acting was Se7en and Fight Club to name a few.

Brad's no Day Lewis...but I think he does a fine job. Hes had his bad, but has shined as well. Who could have better portrayed Tyler Durden or Mickey O'Neil? However, I agree that someone better could have been found for this.

Durden rules, of coarse I give him that. Seven is a great film, not great b/c of Pitt in fact, it would have been even better with someone else in that role.

I think Se7en was perfect for him. He had the look of a young inexperience individual that is slightly emotional. I can't imagine anyone else able to bring the needed cockiness to Fincher's film.

Pitt still makes some of the best choices of what films to appear in more so than almost any other actor. Tom Cruse is another one who does this. They make films for adults. Usually they work with great directors and the material is grade A. Or at least a strong B.
He may not be Day-Lewis but Pitt has never givin a laughable of bad performance nor has he ever wrecked a movie with a weak performance.

Re: Inglorious Bastards - Tarantino's Next Project!
This is the extreme Pitt-love that I meant. He makes movies for adults? I don't even know what that means. Mr & Mrs Smith was so vapid & ridiculous my soul died a little after watching it. The Oceans movies are an empty husk of films trying so hard to be retro-cool that it is painful to watch & it's audience doesn't have the attention span to sit through a true classic heist film. Troy? I mean Troy? I absolutely cringe ever time Pitt talks in Inglorious Bastards. This idea that he is one of the finest actors working today, I'm sorry I just don't see it. I get they he is so beloved by the media, the guy has never met a magazine cover he didn't like, but to me it's a sad state if people are saying Brad Pitt is the epitome of great acting.

I like Brad Pitt, but only in supporting roles. I think he's great in Fight Club, Seven, Burn After Reading and I like him in the Ocean films. The second he is the leading man, I lose interest. I don't think he's horrible by any means, but as a leading man it always feels off. Legends of the Fall, Ben Button, Meet Joe Black, etc. I cant think of any film where he is the leading man that I enjoy.
Some guys just need to be surrounded by more talented actors to shine and I think Pitt falls into this category. I do like him though.
And I agree with the thoughts that something is off with this film, for whatever reason I'm not very interested in this one. I'm not a die hard Tarantino guy though.

I agree with this, I like him in all those films too (except Oceans) & he puts me to sleep as a leading man, he doesn't have the charisma despite the media's love affair with him, to carry a movie. Glad, & very surprised to see I'm not the only one drooling over Bastards.

Re: Inglorious Bastards - Tarantino's Next Project!
How is Pitt less of an actor than any of the 3 faces shown in your avatar.?
(I ask this with the utmost respect to TGTB&TU)
He certainly has a leading man presence. ANd this film certainly seems to be more of an ensemble piece anyway. Or at least it seems that way from what i have read about it so it shouldnt matter too much.

Providing the final movie follows the script, then Pitt's role in Inglorious Basterds is a supporting role. His character isn't going to be Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan, it's more like Bruce Willis in Pulp Fiction.

Yeah. He's just a name actor that a trailer can throw out to get people to see thins thing. The script is total ensemble piece. So I hear the Maggie Cheung scene was cut out..how sad, it kinda added to the quirkiness of Basterds. Can anyone confirm on this being 100%
