Sly Stallone News. Yeah!!!!

Will this one make the theaters?

Sylvester Stallone is writing, directing & starring in a movie about the
murders of Tupac Shakur, & Biggie Smalls. Stallone will play LAPD
detective Russell Poole, who uncovered rampant corruption in the LAPD as
well as evidence that the LAPD allegedly had a hand in Biggie's murder.
Production starts September 1st.

I kind of missing him going off on people anytime they say anything mildly non-complimentary towards Sylvester Stallone.

Stallone should make it a comedy and cast Eddie Murphy as both Tupac and Biggie.

I think you're on to something. Eddie probably still has his fat suit from the Nutty Professor. Or maybe Murphy could play Biggie & Arsenio Hall could play Pac.

Then who would Chris Rock play?

And I thought they'd cast Carl Weathers as Biggie?

I don't think he has a choice. His "fastball down the middle" roles have been bombing big.

Hey guys, I'm back.

Actually this is a very good role for Sly. Since Sly is obviously writing and directing this movie himself, this was his decision to do a movie about Biggie and Tupac.

It's also obvious that Biggie and Tupac will NOT be the main characters in this movie played by other actors. The film may have actual clips of the real Biggie and Tupac in the movie but of course they will not star in it.

As the article said, Russell Poole, is the main character of the movie investigating the murders of the two rappers. It's a crime drama movie. It will not be an action flick, just strictly crime drama.

Sly has always been a huge fan of rap/hip hop music as I'm sure that's the type of music he likes to listen to while working out in the exercise room.

Death Row exec Suge Knight had been signed to be Sly's co-star of the movie.

Rampart Scandal info

As you can see, Sly is trying to make a comeback. After him making many TV appearances and doing Spy Kids 3-D, he needs to promote himself to get recognized again. He is doing a fine job at it too.

"Rampart Scandal" will be very successful in the Theater Box Office IMO and this will NOT be his third straight to video release. A lot of rap music fans will be interested in this movie. Sly is aiming for a younger audience, that is why he choosed to do Spy Kids and this movie here.

I'd rather watch an episode of "The Shield."

Just wait until the trailer is released before you badly judge a movie. I'm not a huge fan of rap music either but the movie does sound very interesting in my book.

Sly will be playing this man here, this is a picture of Det. Russell Poole:

Yeah, in that picture he does look like Lawler.

I've been doing some research on Det. Russell Poole investigating the murders of Biggie and Tupac. Russell Poole is a famous detective who has investigated many celebrity crimes. If you do google research on the life of Rusell Poole you would see how this movie would be very good.

Stallone's problem isn't that he's not recognized, it's that he is.

Looks like Sly needs to put on some weight to get down the physicality of the role. And not like Cop Land, but serious poundage.

It's kinda sad that people actually care that stallone is trying to make yet another comeback. Sometimes it's just better to stay buried than look desperate.

But, if I were him, I would direct a movie where i'd turn an american icon into someone who closely resembles the lord of the dance and pretty much stop his career for that decade.
Oops, he already did that.

...if the lead character wasn't played by Sly Stallone and a decent writer/director was attached.

*sigh*

The only reason people enjoy bashing this movie is because Sly is directing and acting in it, nothing more. They know they have no reason to bash him because "bashing a movie you haven't seen yet" is stupid. Don't judge a book by it's cover. The movie haven't even started production yet, nor there hasn't even made trailers for it yet? So how can people badly judge a movie that's just been announced? It doesn't make sense.

You can voice your opinion against an idea without "bashing" the finished product.

And as for Stallone being the only reason to criticize this project, that's not true either, although Stallone has neither the acting chops nor the directorial vision to properly bring a story of this importance to the screen in my opinion. Making a film version of the events surrounding the murders of Biggie and Tupac is unnecessary at best, irresponsible at worst. Nick Broomfield's very good documentary is illuminating enough, and since the case is still very much unresolved, someone should just make the effort to investigate matters further in form of a documentary, if anything.

EDIT: I don't know why I wrote "Broom" instead of "Broomfield". Sorry!

I respect that opinion sure.

But as I said, Sly is doing this movie for fans of Biggie and Tupac. Maybe the Nick Broom's documentary inspired Sly to do this movie? Maybe Sly wants to do something for the younger generation?

When people think that Sly is not a good actor or director but maybe he wants to show that he is a good actor and director in this film. IMO, Sly is a very talented actor/director. Once people see him in this movie "Rampart Scandal" or "Shade", people will probably start liking Sly again. That's another reason he's doing this movie was to show of how good of an actor he can be.

Sly wants to do something different. Something new and fresh. If you read what I said above, Biggie and Tupac will not be the stars of the movie played by other actors. Sly himself and Suge Knight will be the two main stars of the movie.

This movie "Rampart Scandal" will be much different than the Nick Broom documentary.

Since Suge Knight is exec of Death Row records, the real life Russell Poole had been investigating him a lot, so the movie "Rampart Scandal" is basically going to be a drama about Sly playing Russell Poole investigating the murders with Suge Knight.

Just give Sly a break or give him a chance, sheesh....
