Strange bit 'o' irony( spoiler I guess)
The actor playing "The Architect", Helmut Bakaitis, is from Germany.
What does that mean?
It means nothing, I'm sure he's a great guy...however...
I couldn't help but think of the Nazis and the "Perfect World" they tried to create and how it relates to what The Architect is/was doing in The Matrix series.

Assuming this is a serious post, I think it's important to say that it's possible for a person to be German and not be a Nazi. It's the truth.
That isn't to say you're accusing poor Helmut of being a Nazi, but I think this is point in its entirity is ludicrous.

It was something that popped into my head when I read his bio. I don't think Helmut is a Nazi and I said that above. I didn't expect, or even want for that matter, anyone to agree or disagree.
I also noticed, like someone else here, most of Zion was seemingly non-white.
Big deal. We all notice silly things.

I do appreciate the irony, but since there was nothing distinctly German about the Architect (accent etc), it's probably just coincidence. But the ethicity of the majority of Zion's population has been discussed before, and the Wachowskis could be doing something intentional there. Just look at who's opposing Neo - an army of identical (=ideal?) white men!

The only reason I think Zion was made up of non-caucasian people was because it made them seem more authentic, if you will. One of the Chicago critics put it quite nicely, although I forget who it was exactly.

"Ludicrous or not I don't care what you think. "
LOL!!! Another great mind!! I just love posts like these that bring a smile to my day! Is he a friend of Jamers?

BTW, I think the meaning of "irony" escapes you. Something is ironic if it is incongruent with what is expected. A Nazi playing a character that wants to rule the world is not ironic. Sorry about using the word "congruent". Again, thanks for the laughs!

In other words, because our first reaction to learning that the Architect is played by a German actor is not "figures" (or something to that effect), i.e. because the association is most probably completely unintended by the Wachowski sisters, er, brothers, his nationality becomes a potential ironic point for those of us with more vivid (twisted?) imaginations.

Man I can't wait until this matrix reloaded forum is back in the main forum.
It will significantly cut down on the crappy threads. This isn't the only one. The discussion here is getting so watered down, but as long as this forum exists, people feel the need to talk about ANYTHING, and this thread exemplifies tha

Yes, the fact he's German doesn't really mean anything since his performance doesn't drip with German influence. If anything, perhaps it's ironic that he looks like Colonel Sanders, because, how would he know what KFC tastes like? Maybe that's why everything tastes like chicken, eh? The Matrix = Giant fast food conglomerate? Food for thought.

i·ro·ny [ rnee ] (plural i·ro·nies)
noun
3. incongruity: incongruity between what actually happens and what might be expected to happen
The Germans lost WWII, and nearly everyone today is glad they did and do not rule the world. But in reality, a German does rule the world today and always has. That seems incongruous and ironic to me.
Well, not really, since he's just a German guy, not a Nazi. But I don't see a problem with using the word "irony."

Ginatrobo never before have I heard such moronic rambling!
Atleast have to guts to admit that what you noticed was so far out and uninteresting not to mention completely unfounded and lacking any meaning.
Personal attack? What do you expect from such a (pardon my opinion) idiotic post!!
Feel sorry for yourself, why don't you.
