I liked that young kid version of the young kid in Almost Famous.

The kids in Spy Kids are pretty good too. They aren't particularly cute, or funny or witty, but they're pretty natural. They're like Everykid.

i'll bump this thread to second both kirsten in interview with the vampire, and natalie for leon. both haven't done any good acting performances since (well, maybe we can give leway to kirsten due to the "rain" scene in spiderman and almost all of crazy beautiful)

Apparently you haven't watched too many Natalie Portman movies. Shame on you. She did an excellent job in Beautiful Girls.

Ah, always nice to contribute to an old thread.

My favorite child actor is probably Ann Carter, who was the star of The Curse of the Cat People and in a bunch of other movies, such as The Two Mrs. Carrolls.

But I have to also mention the two girls in FairyTale A True Story, because their performances are just phenomenal.

I also thought Liesel Matthews was very good in A Little Princess, and both kids in Signs were great.

Finally, I'll heartily second (or is that third) the call for Lucas Black in Sling Blade.

Don't know their names, but those two kids in The Others, especially the girl were awesome.

Yes! I almost forgot this movie until you mentioned it. Great movie indeed.

And I've been meaning to watch Kolya for some time, but the rental which has the disc went belly up. Sigh...

Seeker's on the money. That girl in Whale Rider- Keisha Castle-Hughes was probably the best performance by a child I've seen, except for maybe Christian Bale in Empire of the Sun.

Ron Howard as Opie immediately came to mind. There are some classic episodes with depth, feeling and emotion that would not have happened if they'd use most other kids.

That's the other person that came to mind. Two great performances.
