Decent film, except for two points.
1. Edward Norton is sleeping through it, and his part has clearly been edited down. We all know the story behind his presence in the film, but seriously, he's a professional and could have easily turned in a good role. I'm reminded of a Kevin Spacey quote, where he said that he'll do a film even if he doesn't want to, because he knows people will enjoy watching him play it. Well, I didn't enjoy watching Norton dawdle. I love the guy to death, but he just wasn't there in this film.
2. Marky Mark*, I'm not sorry to say, is one of the biggest uncharismatic black hole of non-talent to curse the screen in recent years. Future filmmakers - do NOT cast him as a lead, for God's sake, unless he can somehow convince the audience for one brief millisecond that he can reprise the spark of his Boogie Nights role...
He's good for support; then again, so is concrete. That's an unfair comparison, I know. Concrete emotes better.
* The man chose this ridiculous name for himself. Let him live with his decision. I don't call Snoop Dogg "Calvin Broadus", and Robert Van Winkle is at least humble enough to deal with "Vanilla Ice".

I've seen it and there were so many instances where the violence was purposely toned down to get the PG-13. For example, the scene where a guy says "mutha-freakin". Also, the scene where the helicopter is blocking the blue car; why didn't Norton's character just pull out a gun and shoot at the car?

I just caught this today with some friends since Bruce Almighty was sold out at the time we went to the theater. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm a big fan of these caper movies, and i had a lot of fun with this.. kind of reminded me of a poor man's Ocean's 11.
I thought i was going to be annoyed with Seth Green having seen him so often on TV and movies, but he was VERY funny. Especially when he

Just posted in the other thread, but i saw this tonight and thought it was a lot of fun. Spoilers from the trailer didn't ruin the movie at all. Seth Green was hilarious throughout the movie. The Mini Cooper driving scenes were pretty cool as well. Definatly a must see for those that enjoyed Ocean's 11.

I like it OK but my wife just loved and now wants a blue mini with white stripes. And one gripe was it just me or did on of the minis loose its door and then get it back again. Hmmm

The star this time is Wahlberg as Charlie Croker, the leader of a group of thieves (Green, Mos Def, Charlize Theron and Jason Statham) who stop traffic in downtown Los Angeles to hijack an armored car carrying $4 million in gold bars.
This is from the CNN review. Did they even watch the movie? 4 million where did they get than amount from?

I thought this was one of the most enjoyable heist/caper films I've seen in a long time, probably ever. Let's not analyze any of the "science" or logistics of the film because I'm sure a lot of it wouldn't add up. But who cares? When a movie is this much fun and done this well it doesn't matter.
I will also agree that the trailer gave away way too much and I would have enjoyed it even more if I didn't know what the next big plot development was going to be about every 15 or 20 minutes. But that doesn't have anything to do with the worth of the movie itself. ***½ (out of ****).

Just came back. Loved it. Everyone's pretty much said the word for it -- FUN. And Charlize Theron...
Man they really F'd up the Catwoman role. Why didn't they just give it to Charlize for crying out loud???

It was a fun movie, but you know...I went for the car chases and well, I'd seen it all in the preview. So I was disapointed by that aspect, not to mention I thought the original...well...had better car chases. But definately worth a watch.

I just saw this and really enjoyed it. It was fun and easy going, nothing to deep but that is what I wanted in this particular movie. The car chases were exciting neat. Id give this one a viewing if your looking for some mindless fun.

I saw it under the most ideal condition- I had not seen a single trailer for this movie! My expectations were pretty low (Marky Mark? how can it go wrong?) and was just seeing the only movie that mildly interested me from a pretty sorry list of current releases. The main thing that sold me was that I watched them shooting the chase scene on Hollywood Blvd last October, so it was more of a curiousity than anything.
This was definitely the most pleasant suprise for me since I saw Drumline, another one of my new favs that I had no prior knowledge/expectations of. I'll agree that Norton was pretty playing his part pretty bland; I read on imdb that: "Edward Norton has made it clear that his participation is a result of contractual obligation, not choice."
The mini chases were a big pleaser as well as Seth Green. This will sound odd, but I was sort of surprised that Theron and Marky didn't have a gratuitous 'love scene,' which made me glad as a PG13 version would have just slowed the film's pace terribly.

Great flick
... and I didn't mind the trailer or its plot giveaways.

That's who was playing Becky. I thought I recognized her from somewhere.
Definitely a fun movie - very enjoyable! Charlize is hot and Seth Green is hysterical.

Just had to say that I really enjoyed it as well -- far more than I suspected that I would.
I just wish the mini's weren't front wheel drive. Also, I was a little disppointed that in all the jumps, they nose dived heavily. I know why, it's a front wheel drive with 63%(!) of it's weight over the front axle -- but if it was carrying 2500 pounds of gold in the rear, it would cause the rear end to dive instead.
But, I'm just picking nits. The film was unrealistic, and there were lots of errors, but it was fun. And that's all it ever pretended to be. Thumbs up.
